"I have got only a short period in Formula One and I want to be competitive," he said. "I want to win championships. If you're in a good enough place and you're happy then there's no need to go anywhere. But loyalty has its limits."
More fuel on the fire for him walking out to somewhere else. This was in response to Whitmarsh saying he would like Hamilton and Button in the team for another 5 years. Red Bull is still the obvious team for him to move to in place of Webber, but they also mention Mercedes as a 'dark horse', maybe when Schumacher puts his feet up and goes home?

Why though? Do we all really think that Redbull are going to dominate for years to come?? Surely Newey going to Ferrari or Back to Mclaren is more likely??? If Lewis moves then only Ferrari would be the team to go to IMO.I thnik Newey will stay put - he want's to cement his reputation and there's no-where better than RB - he's already extended his contract. Why go to Ferrari which, given their spend, should win every race, and fail regularly than win with a less funded team?
Horner will play mind games on Lewis again, making Lewis think about all those RB championships rather than concentrating on the task at Mclaren but I doubt they'd want Lewis and Vettel.

It's a gamble whatever he does but I can see his frustration that last year it was clear that the Redbull was the car to be in and moving into 2011, nothing has changed.
Hamilton is hugely competitive and I can understand his angle. As much as I don't doubt he likes the money, personally I don't think this is about money. He's a winner and wants to win..

He doesn't have the slowest car on the grid, just not the fastest. Second fastest perhaps. He'd do well to outperfrom RB in a lesser car. Does he really think the rest of Mclaren are sitting around eating cake instead of trying to make the car the fastest on the grid.
I like him because he is british and at Mclaren, but he should lose the attitude and learn from Button. Sometimes you have lemons.

Although obviously an immensely talented guy, he also is a very emotional guy. This can be good, but it seems sometimes to have a teenager-ish side to it, which isn't good. The worst thing about the Fuller announcement was when Lewis alluded to his going beyond racing - as if he were to become a "brand". One can readily imagine Fuller's giving Lewis the pitch that, under his management, Lewis would get recording contracts and parts in films. Typical football management attitude, and LH maybe not smart enough to see through it all.
He sounds like he's trying to avoid tabloid headlines of "Hamilton commits to McLaren for life" or "Hamilton wants to leave McLaren now", followed no doubt by media vilification when he does something different to whatever they've "decided" for him.
Treading the fine line that says "McLaren have been great so far, are competitive now, but that might change in the future so any sensible person keeps their options open" is non-newsworthy.
For the "Loyalty has it's limits" comment I would be surprised if the interviewer had been pushing him to commit the rest of his racing life to McLaren. Of course he's not going to do that, but it would make a great headline for someone that persuaded him to say it.
He could stay at McLaren for ever, he could move to another team - not quite so dramatic is it?
