Really?So no-one has ever improved by being coached and receiving the benefit of the experience of seasoned support staff and the best equipment? Hmmm.
You probably believe the he didn't let Trulli past the other year too.

I disagree. Talent is not that rare. What is rocking horse droppings is support and development. Whilst you can't make a silk purse, the essence of proper individual coaching is improvement. In a sport I know, if you are picked at 17 yrs you tend to go on into the Premiership yet players of equal potential and ability struggle without such assistance and are left to wallow in National Leagues.Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel: all world champions, all supported.

He was extremely well supported and developed (and if he didn't get any driver coaching on the way up, why not?) but by any measure, he was a lot less experienced than Alonso in 2007 so it was a pretty impressive display nonetheless.
Look at Alonso's 2005-2006 performances and look at his Ferrari performances last year in the second half of the year and there's no way you could conceive of a rookie putting one over on him.
I think Lewis would do well to do less media and keep his head down and focus on the racing - he looked distracted and unsure when interviewed by Lee Mckenzie on the weaving penalty and I think Vettel's success is starting to get to him a little....

Well I think lewis was groomed, he was lucky to be sponsored by mclaren from his karting days, and then onto the rest his career. If that is not grooming someone I dont know what is.
'Lucky' ? Wow, there are some with blinkers on here on PH these days. Luck had absolutely nothing to do with it... watch his form through the ranks: he's a special driver - full stop. The same goes for Vettel to some extent.GreaseNipple said:
