Yes, yes and yes

Went there last year with the SMACS www.scoobysmacs.co.uk and had a great time Loads of stuff to do like walking, sight seeing, touring, eating and shopping. But, the best things are the roads, especially the mountain road

Pictures here: www.scoobysmacs.co.uk/gallery/gallery.asp and go to April 2006

and video here of the mountain road: www.scoobysmacs.co.uk/Videos/iom%20mountain%20short.wmv

i lived there once upon a time (parents still do) derestricted roads are under attack now by the pc brigade and there are less and less every time i go back (derestriction gets moved). dont get caught doing anything naughty because there has been a change in the law. Points are now transferable to english licences. The easiest place to get caught is the TT course on the nice roads between peel and ramsey (some of which are even nicer to drive than the mountain). Most of the mountain road is still derestricted and has a nice surface. I would recommend the "verandah" by the motorcycle museum as the best set of corners for a nice fast car. For bikers, the "mountain mile" going up the top half of the mountain climb (from ramsey to douglas direction) is where you can test your nerves top speed wise.

Pubs are getting shitter every time i go back as well. Most of the other things to do are fairly pedestrian.

Oh and if you're on a bike (or in a car for that matter), dont try to race or even keep up with the locals if you think that they're going for it or you'll end up dead. They know where every little lump and bump (never mind corners) is on the road (literally) and they will know all the hazards waiting arround every corner (like a raised manhole, pot hole, greasy surface that is always wet)......anyway enough rambling........let me know if you need any infor whatsoever

Oh, I would recommend leaving it till a couple of weeks after TT week (remember tt week is actually 2 weeks). The weather will be better. Dont even thing of going during a week before or after tt fortnight or there will be crazy bikers everywhere. Not to tar everyone with the same brush but some of them litteraly leave their brains at the sea terminal when they arrive and do reaaly dumb and dangerous stuff (like drink driving and racing). Oh and there's too many of them to have fun if you're in a car.
