Pretty much as you said once your past the narrow bit at the far end of Loch Lomond it's all good, watch out for bib activity if you head up the 82 towards Ft William though, enjoy,

Agreed - they get really good about 20 mins north of Fort William. From then on you can't really go wrong if you keep heading north via Lochcarron, Applecross, Shieldaig, Kinlochewe, Gairloch, Poolewe, Ullapool, Kylesku, Durness. http://www.stevecarter.com/picaday/roads.htm

ETA - assuming you have the time!

Once you hit the trossachs you cant go wrong just expect articulated lorrys, motorbikes or coaches to be round the next corner and stay on your side of the road untill your past the green welly stop.

A good one with no BIB is the A822 through the Sma' Glen from Crieff right over to Aberfeldy. You can then head down past Loch Tay to Killin, then at Lix Toll go either to Callander via Glen Ogle or off to Crianlarich - but watch for plod on the A84/A85.

Yep, still there. Assume you're referring to the Land Rover with two sets of Caterpillar tracks? I really want a go in that!

Yeah thats the one, but there used to be a few weird machines there years ago, like big lorries with half tracks and stuff, talking nearly 20 yrs ago to be fair,
