Any roadworks/diversions on A272 Winchester to

Need to get to Brighton for the marathon on Sunday morning 8am so will be leaving here (Marlborough) and travelling down. TomTom and Google Maps say the quickest route is M4/M25/M23 but that just sounds like a snoozefest. I was considering leaving an hour earlier and going cross country A34 and then A272 via Midhurst (seem to remember that's quite a hoonable road from previous Goodwood FOS excursions), but just wondered if any local knowledge of likely problems along that route.

Have checked BBC website but nothing major occurring I can see

There was nothing (or any signs I noticed) when was on it late last week.

Anyhow, just google the county and roadworks, and you should get this, West Sussex as an example:
