Hotel advice about 3 hours from calais

I need to do a late night run to Avignon in the middle of July: can't get away fron the UK until 10pm, probably.

But, I fancy getting my head down at about 2am for about 5/6 hours before ploughing on again as I need to be reasonably lucid the next afternoon.

Anyone got any tips for places to stop off? Just needs to be a bed for the night, as close to the motorway as possible

I've tried the IBIS website, but it keeps crashing on me.

Is Formule1 the best bet? Safe enough to turn up without a booking?

As long as there is no festival, concert, sporting event on in the area then they're usually half-empty - although you may get a slightly cheaper room if you book in advance rather than just turning up.

Try B&B, far better than F1 and auto check in so dont need to worry about late arrival....oh and no shared toilets either!
