Dan s F12 640i

So for those of you that followed my short ownership of an E92 M3, it didn’t end well! Car ended up with bore score following suspected injector failure so I punted it on for a small loss to someone who will rebuild the engine. With the news that I will be taking my first step onto the property ladder, I decided I had to be slightly more sensible with what came next, as it will likely have to be a daily driver throughout this winter and into next year whilst I get my finances sorted. I also decided I fancied another convertible, after selling an MG TF last year.
Clearly I haven’t learnt the lesson from my M3 experience, as I’ve gone and got myself a 2011 640i convertible. I’ve always liked this generation of 5 & 6 series, and this was for sale at an excellent price. It has a HUD and comfort seats & a reverse camera and a cream interior as part of the options list, and it’s an awful lot of car for £9k! Here’s hoping my second BMW is less trouble than the first!

That should be a good buy; the N55s a superb engineClearly I haven t learnt the lesson from my M3 experience, as I ve gone and got myself a 2011 640i convertible. It's a 640i GC I'm hankering after as a replacement for my 130i - if/when I decide to sell it on

Always fancied one of these until I drove one and just felt a tad hemmed in.
My Mum always used to take the pee out of me with my driving position when we had the F13 640d Coupe. I had the seat reclined right back and I sat low in it. Thinking back now, I'm only 5'8" tall, so I did well to reach the pedals really!
Lovely, and such a massive amount of car for £9k.
I had a 640d Coupe some years back and 3 cars on, I still pine after another. My personal opinion was that the run-flats made the ride far too harsh on anything other than fresh asphalt, so swapped them out for non-RFs and made sure I had a repair kit.
I'm going to head off and look at Auto Trader again and see if I can justify its complete lack of versatility compared to my G31 estate...

Absolutely loving the car so far, I just love convertible motoring when the weather is good. Small snag list to work through, needs a new battery for sure as getting the increased discharge warning when it sits for a few days, the trim behind the rear view mirror has broken so need that sorted and most annoying the AC is not working (always on the hottest days!). The comfort seats are ace now I’ve figured out the 4 million adjustments on them, and the low down torque of the N55 and the ZF8 box make for relaxing top down wafting!

Definitely do! It’s one of my favourite aspects of the car that it’s the size of the QM2 and yet I can’t sit anyone in the back! I’m not finding it too hard to park either which is nice!I had a 640d Coupe some years back and 3 cars on, I still pine after another. It is great to hear how much you're enjoying it.
Comfort seats are an absolute pain in the backside to get right at first I agree, but once right, they're lovely for sure.
