To save swamping the Suzuki thread I've moved the chat here so we can work out what's wanted.

I think that should do you well beer

I'm liking the spread of PH entry vehicles for this upcoming Maroc Challenge!
Would it be perhaps useful to have a merged PH thread where we can see updates from all PH entrants?
PH Towers could create a thread which only the Entrants could update.
This may be possible, but would involve already stretched tech support so I think it would need to be self policing.

I'd prefer separate threads as I like the discussion and commiserating/cheering. So less prolific up daters (bearing in mind just running a car is a job in itself) could get swamped.

We could have personal threads alongside the general chat, but then that's another job for the participants.

My suggestion would be to keep the separate threads but have a general chat thread stickied with links to the competitor's threads in the OP.

That way everything is easily found (plus additional entrants could be added...), competitors only have the one personal thread to update and there's threads for specific and general chat. I think (though will have to have a play/ask an adult) that the OP could be pinned to the top of each page too.

I wondered about that but users of "favourite forums" would potentially miss out, and it is a reader's cars compendium... wink

I prefer the separate threads - PopPopBangBang, Anomoly and Wilksn89 all have different approaches and budgets.

I m rooting for the underdog Suzuki as that aligns with my budget and approach.
I salute anyone who buys a new Octa .and then wants to rag it round the Sahara!
And I like fellow Cayenne owner PPBB s technical aspects to car prep.

But saying that a general Maroc Challenge thread that details budget/costs/admin etc to help anyone else thinking of entering would be good.

So having seen this from the other thread I'm putting together a plan to do this next year with either 1 or 2 vehicles.

From people who have done this before its there anywhere in the UK that you would recommend to get some basic training in 4x4 on dunes, and winch/basic recovery from getting stuck ?

Thx

Will throw my hat in the ring - plan is to do Winter 2027 - inspired by my daughter’s boyfriend who just rowed across the Atlantic (World’s Toughest Row) and the other thread contributors for the Maroc Chellenge on PH. Just acquired this Porsche Cayenne blind at auction - what could possibly go wrong!!

That appears to be a good price!

Drop the front diff oil ASAP, it’s a weak point on 955 -> 958 due to the long service interval.

Fantastic. The Maroc is almost becoming a PH event!
