My DIY 4-Door Hatchback Rover Mini - 3 Years in the Making
Discussion
Hi everyone from Japan!
I wanted to share my ongoing long-term project with you all. I ve always loved the classic Rover Mini, but I wanted to create something that didn't exist: A practical, 4-door hatchback version built entirely by hand.
I m currently 3 years into this build. It s based on a 1992 Rover Mini 1000 (carb model), and I ve done all the metalwork, welding, and structural modifications myself in my atelier.
Inspired by the famous Radford Mini hatchbacks (like Ringo Starr s), I decided to take it a step further by adding custom-fabricated rear doors.
The project is still very much a "work in progress." I recently finished a complete 4-month overhaul of the electrical wiring and dashboard during the winter, and I m constantly refining the details.
I ve documented every step of this journey from cutting the body to the custom interior on my Instagram. If you want to see the "blood, sweat, and tears" behind this 4-door conversion, please check it out:

Sorry, as a new member I can't post direct links for 14 days! You can find my project on Instagram by searching for '@la_forme.yuki'. I have 3 years of build photos there!
I d love to get some feedback or advice from the British Mini community as I move towards the next phase of the build!
Cheers,
Yuki?
