I've just bought this as a daily drive and as my "leave anywhere-mobile".

Now several of my mates have thought it facking hilarious that I have bought a Jag whilst still in my 20s. Is it still considered an old man's motor? I thought Jag had started to shed that image? Not that I give too much of a toss, just interested.

It's a very nice "leave anywhere" mobile anyway.

I came very close to buying an old shape XKR during last summer, and I'm 23! Decided that would have been madness though and would have crippled me financially.

I've friends with Jags my age and younger, I love 'em.

My mates dad has an old style XK8 and he's 40 odd i think it still sits with the old man style car to be honest, but then again most people will say that about BMW's.

I mean that alfa would have been a better choice... if u actually cared what people think, but as you don't the car itself is fine, i actually like those jags smile wouldn't have one though.

that makes me feel better. Would feel even better if you hadn't used the word nearly.

I must say its a pretty good car to drive, but then no surprises given the mondeo platform. The 2.5 V6 isnt a quick engine, but makes a lovely sound and feels just right for rumbling around.

I'm still considering dropping down to 2 cars for me and the g/f as we work in the same city and have started car sharing so the mileage has dropped right off. If that were to be the case though, I fear the Jag may be the car that gets dropped from the line up, which would be a real shame as it makes a superb cruiser and general daily hack.

I only say nearly because the Mondeo was 2k cheaper than the cheapest 2.2 X I could find (and the Jag was more expensive to insure, unfortuantely), no other reasons! I do prefer the interior/dash arrangement on the X.

Hardly a babe magnet but it could be a LOT worse; Ford, Astra etc... Bet its a much better drive than the competition / other cars you could have settled for.
