Off to collect 3rd car in 3 months, usual bus and train journey and for me quite close at approx 170 miles away.

Previously bought C43 and SL350 are remaining, this is an additional purchase, as is my R53 MINI

Not a car I need, a real marmite car but appeals because it is allegedly immaculate but mostly because it's an ex magazine featured Press Car.

Not expensive and hoping it will be a keeper.

Quick clue - 4 pot and 2 seats

Spot on. The early JCW press car that was criticised for being "too compromised" - exactly the kind of thing that draws me to a car

Ace. They look like fun. Compromised sounds perfect for a small, lightish, fun sports coupé.

The Autocar verdict was "Huge fun on the right road and if you are in the mood but too compromised overall".

Perfect, it will only be driven on the right roads and when I'm in the mood - one of the advantages of living where I do is access to lots of utterly brilliant roads

We're clearly almost neighbours (I live a little way south of Shrewsbury, off the A49).

I've started my last 3 or 4 car collection journeys with a Taxi to Shrewsbury station (except one that I started from Church Stretton, as I was heading south on that line).

Loved my mini coupe. Was just the standard cooper S, but stuck an air intake which made proper use of the bonnet scoop, and it make hilarious intake noises, and very childish pops from the rear.

Automatic spoiler was a great feature too. One of the best handling front wheel drive cars I’ve had too, not quite as good as the R53 it replaced, but my R53 did have the factory LSD.
