My love for 5's since I was 16 has done nothing other than grow! I'm now 19 and I've had 9 Renault 5's and 1 200sx.
Pictures speak a thousand words, so I'll share some with you..
Here is my first car: A campus GTT lookalike (let me know if it is now owned by anyone on here, I'd love to see how it's doing):

I bought this whilst I had my campus with the intention to restore it back to original condition (it wasn't a real cup car, just a lookalike), but gave up and sold it:

I then sold the campus after a year of motoring, when I had a years NCB, and bought this GTT:

I then sold that after about 4 months (stupid mistake), and bought the 200sx:

I then sold that after about 3 months, because it was boring compared to 5's and then I bought this:

I obviously (having had 9 in total) bought and sold a few in between, but they were my main cars.
Having learnt that 5's are the only way forward, I decided to settle for the red 5, and started sinking some money into it:

However the paint let it down, so I booked it in with a bodyshop (a guy off RTOC). When I'd saved enough money, the date was set, and my Dad and me set to ripping it to pieces. Didn't take too long, as we've had to disassemble / reassemble a few of my 5's in the past :P

So, on the back of a towing dolly it went all the way up to Carlisle...

So the bodyshop set to work.. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

(new tailgate, because mine was rotten)

So after a long wait, it was time to get it again! I got it this Saturday just gone:

So, onwards with the rebuild! I have LOTS of new bits stockpiled, so it should be nice when it's all back together. I will take lots of piccies of the rebuild, so stay tuned
Oh yeh, and here are some piccies of it's garage

It's a tent modified to fit a 5

Some pictures from last weekend..

Started with the tailgate - fitted rubbers, locking mechanisms, wiring, etc

One rear window in

And the other side..

A dash I bought (because mine had some holes in it). Pretty fookin messy! You can't see it really, but it has quite a bit of over spray on it, however I managed to clean it up nicely.

Sound deadening in

Heater matrix in

Dash in and majority of the wiring connected
Couldn't get anything done this weekend, but will be cracking on next weekend with pics to be added

Not much progress this weekend either. Was gonna be putting the engine in today, but other things came up. Yesterday got the engine ready to go in (pretty much)..
Just a few piccies:

Gearbox off

Old clutch off

Old clutch

New clutch

Clutch fitted

New release bearing fitted
And then other stuff I didn't take photos of - Putting all the loom back on, alternator on, etc.
Just need to drain the oil and change the filter and the engine should be back in next weekend.

OK - So.. Decided I want to be more thorough when rebuilding. I was just gonna throw it all in, as it was before, but I decided I'd get some stuff cleaned up / repainted.
Before:

Removed the subframe and all the other crap:

Then removed the struts / steering rack / hubs / driveshaft all in one from the subframe

Also found a nice surprise

Hole in the sill! Looks like my Dad will be using his MIG soon
My cars new home - the tent was trying to take off with the wind, and has damaged the paintwork on the gutter plastics. Not too big a deal.. I'll just get some sprayed up at some point

Did the doors today and yesterday

This was the worst hinge (note how off centre it is)

My dad doing all the hard work

Pushing a sleeve in (and some nice brand placement)

Sleeve in

All greased up!

Right door

Left door
It's tonnes better now - it all lines up, and there is absolutely NO play in the doors! Pretty happy with it all (I did this to all 4 hinges)
I also did some more stripping of the subframe ready for powder coating. The wishbone bushes were an absolute b
h!

These are the rims:

Got to say that the blue one on ronals looks great.
On a side note, did you machine those bushes up yourself? as i have a pug 205 which is suffering from door drop, and would be nice to bush the hinges rather than having to fit new ones.
I didn't - a member of the RTOC did them for me. I tried looking elsewhere before this guy offered.. I can pass your details onto him if you want?
