Very nice, I really like the look of these. I was just looking at them recently and you seem to be able to get a lot of car for your money. 225bhp and something like 0-60 in 6.9s odd for about 7.5-9.5k depending on mileage?
Then it seems a £400 remap sees you with 264bhp, a hell of a lot more torque and presumably around 0-60 in 6.4s or less.
What kind of mpg does it give you in average driving/hooning?

a friend has on identical, same colour and everything, very nice, but the suspension is very hard and the splitter rubs on evrything.
very nice car, my main gripe though being that all the vag 1.8t lumps just sound like a hairdryer from the factory.
do they sound any better with an exhaust system and some tuning?

@ xr287 they are fantastic value for money, a type r is the obvious alternative but i couldn't (again) live with the lack of low down torque the Vtech engines offer, they are either on or off.
The torque makes the cupra r a pleasure to drive between 2 - 3.5k, which to be honest where you spend most of the time, you can carry some serious pace short shifting.
The MPG on a run with some normal driving will see 35 mpg. If you start stretching the gears for prolonged periods of time then it fall into the low 20's. i can live with that sort of MPG to be fair.
@ rsstman... ive caught the splitter on some speed bump, it does sit very low for a standard car. Personally i think its a pretty good compromise between comfort and handling, all though my last car was much stiffer so its all relative i suppose.
As you said they are rather muted, im sure a sport exhaust would sort that out. its something i will look into for the future.

Its beens a while since i've updated this thread, since the last update the following has been done:
- Cam Belt, water pump
- Full service
- 3000 mile road trip around europe (pictures to follow shortly)
- AMD remap (260BHP and 290lb/ft)
The remap has transformed the car, it simple goes no matter what gear you in! I'm very happy with the result, full review to follow shortly!

Great car, these were rapid in standard form...
I follow one of these home every night and, every night, it just vanishes up the road. I have no idea what's under the bonnet but it's pretty soul destroying for a humble Passat driver!
Wheels look fantastic too - can't think of a better design out there at the moment.

Cheers... it's the 1.8 turbo 20V used in the Audi S3 and Audi TT 225. It's the only car i've owned which i love the shape of in standard trim, there is nothing (other than the stance) which i would change! I like the fact that there aren't that many on the road and not many people know whats under the bonnet, it's a sleeper for sure!
