Hello everyone, i'm quite new to the forum but thought i'd put a topic up for my car seeing as i'm on here a few nights a week!

Here she is after i'd got her up to scratch


And me out having a blast


I havent done a great deal yet really, and i don't plan to go overboard with it but the handling is definatly a weak point so a strut brace and a rear anti-roll bar tightend things up nicely for now...



I also had the car down at Awesome GTI on their rolling road just to check thinks were as they should be. It's always nice to know a figure too...

Almost bought one of these a few years a go, only thing that put me off was the interior which was a shame

Are you going to get it remapped then, supposed to turn the car into a little beast.

Really? I don't mind the interior. It's a bit practical and soft so i can see why you wouldn't like it if you wanted something a bit more hardcore. The front seats are a let down to be honest, you don't fall out of them and they do the job, but i've had RS's in the past and was used to recaro's. I'd like some Sparco R300 seats if i keep the car long enough, i love the rest of the interior though as it's all black. Even the headlinning.
I may re-map it at some point, but the standard suspension makes it hard to use all the power as it is, so extra power would be wasted. I'm getting there now though i'd say only about 10% is wasted, whereas before about 70%of power was useable.
I also fitted a short throw gear linkage wich made a hell of a difference!

Well some have said they are a little soft and more of a Focus St type of car but I've never driven one so cant really comment ! I still very much like the look of them though, i myself wanted a yellow one

In the end now i look back at it i wish i had gone for the old Focus RS as the prices have hardly moved ! The interior isnt great but the rest of the car sure makes up for it

Part Exchanged my 2004 Cupra R 225 back in Feb for a new Civic Type R. Now that the initial excitment of the Civic has faded I miss the Cupra like mad. Wish I had never got rid of it, although the Civic is about 200bhp it feels so slow in comparison! Plus the sound of the vtec isn't a patch on the pull of the turbo!

Enjoy it mate and whenever your thinking of selling it just read the above and think again!

Thank's Stu that's very reassuring.
So many people on Seat.cupra.net have sold their CupraR and posted about how much they regret it! Either that or they've returned about 6months later having bought another.
I wont be getting rid of this until i can afford a proper drivers car and get the misses a deisel, maybe a TVR T350, or 911. Anything else would feel like a bit of a side step.
This is by far the best car i've ever owned.
I originally wanted a mk1 RS Martin, but the eqivilant to this would have cost about 3k more and i think i'd have only seen the benifits on track or on the very few perfect roads we have in this country. I do still envy everyone i see on the road though, which is a pain because a guy round the corner has one!

Just thought I'd pop on here and raise the thread again, be nice to hear a few more opinions on these cars. I haven't done anything really apart from maintenence and de-badging her. Cambelt and water pumps been done now so that's a big expense out of the way. I also changed the tyres from P-Zero Rosso's to Falken 452's The Falkens are good for the money but I think I'll go for a more expensive tyre again next time. I also changed the brake fluid to AP Racing DOT5.1 but can't say as I've noticed the difference. Gona put the ARB on it's hardest setting at the weekend and see what it feels like I think.

Thanks for the comments guy's. 30mpg isn't hard at all mate I'm usually somewhere between 28-32mpg and to be fair I only ever see 28mpg when I'm spanking it. My mate has a stage 2 car and that consistently returns 27-28mpg. They are really good In my opinion.

Totally agree. And 265BHP on tap with a remap will put the frighteners up alot of much more expensive stuff in the real world.

This is true, my mate's Stage2 is 289bhp and that's shown lot's of M3's and Carrera's up. In a straight line that is anyway.
