Ive Bought Another Retro Toyota in NZ!!!

Yep I finally found a cool van 8)

I went all the way down to Dunedin from Christchurch to pick up this (and have a few drinks with an old friend from the UK lol).
Picked it up for a reasonable $3000. (£1400ish) 8)

2.4 Diesel
209000km from new
Automatic
Long Wheel Base
Electric windows
Power steering
Air Con
Alarm
Chrome













Now its time to convert it to a full camper so i can live and travel in it for the rest of the year!

Oh and I might do a few little retro mods too........... thinking something like this............ :mrgreen:

Ive been kindly donated a set of 1988 Toyota Crown Wheels for free, that look suitably pimp and retro and look good against the van. I may even run them with some whitewalls???

Well ive never thought about owning one before as they would be slow and take up to much room........ but it seemed like the perfect way to have something to travel in and cheap accmodation! Since owning this one and doing a little delving into the Jap Van scene, there is actually some really cool stuff out there and in my eyes a Jap Van could be a real contender to the 'common' VW Van scene! Just inherited a 1997 Hi ace camper 3.0 auto Jap import from my old man, they have been all over Europe in it plus the arctic circle, im pretty sure they never break !

Wonder if i can get the back end out since they are RWD :P

I can confirm that HiAces can get the back end out, though the 2.4d auto of the OP probably won't!

If its the turbo version of the 2.4d then you should also plan an exhaust upgrade, that engine has trouble getting rid of heat when working hard and a larger exhaust is the most common solution.

Its not actually unusual at all in NZ where it is, more mind-numbingly boring and common as muck (like a Transit to you I'd guess). But the OP likes it, so fair play and don't let me stop you enoying your car van!

I agree there are LOADS of vans here in NZ and most are really boring or badly modified with HUGE chrome wheels and matt black paint jobs! This is why I wanted a retro-ish one and actually make something that is kinda cool and a bit different! Its nice and clean for the age and I dont plan on ruining it!!

Its different from what I would do in the UK but Im enjoying playing with a van so this may change
