Pimped my van

Here is a quick follow up, decided to buy a van for my garage to do the hauling of engines/gearboxes etc, wanted something to stand out-

Here we have it-






I have also been tring on a few sets of wheels i have, pro race 1.2s in shadow chrome-

Here is a van local to me and i like it but i think its a bit ott, nice all the same-






Well i was bored and decided to remove all stickers off the van and give it a good going over with the machine polisher, its quite amazing how flat the paint can go over a short period of time, this is how she looks now-





A funny shot, this is the engine believe it or not and has a massive 70BHP, compared to a gti6 this thing is dead-



A better view of the handsome thing, although its good for 60mpg +-




Well as i never went out last night , i decided to take a picture of the van before i lowered it-




Then it was into the garage where i ripped it to pieces and fitted it with some goodies.

First off on the ramp and all the wheels off, also whipped the sump bung out for a quick oil and filter change-



Time to get these fitted, a pair of -60mm lowering springs-



So out with these-



A bit of tweaking with this-



Oh i also decided to fit one of my big brake kits to it aswell-



Comparison of the old and new- (bit of a difference)



Offered up to the van and all bolted in place-



Time now to make me some braided brake lines to suit, one brake line and the required ends-



Once fitted-



Opposite end-



Fitted to the van0-



It was then time to tackle the suspension, with the front strut removed and out it was time to test my new bit of kit, shock out-



On the new bit of kit, so much easier and far safer-



Little bit of difference:whistle -



New spring compressed and ready for me to re bolt the shock onto it-




One corner finished, big brakes on, lowered spring on, rebuilt and the lion refitted-




Unfortunately it didnt all go to plan, i removed the torsion bars out the back end and adjusted accordingly but on the drivers side rear the arm felt notchy when moving it up or down, i decided to remove the arm and inspect, upon doing this it was apparant we had a bearing issue, once the arm was removed it was clear to see the bearings (little needle rollers) had come out of the cage they sit in and just fell out, luckily the tube itself is fine so its a trip to the dealers monday to see if i can get my hands on a repair kit.

Well with that the vehicle i drove to work i had to leave it there and make my own way back without it, have to say i was gutted (new toy and that).

I dropped the van off the ramp to get an idea of how it looked, here are a few little shots-





All in all pretty pleased, just itching to get it back on the road again now, looking at the parts catalogue its just a 206 rear axle so parts shouldnt be that bad to get hold of, fingers crossed.

No didnt think there was anything like that available, the wheels are very rare 17 inch replicas of the 306 gti cyclone wheels.

Yes you are right the gearbox is a little noisy (the bearings dyeing). common with the petrol model 307's (amonst others)

Well i had 200kg of sand and cement in it earlier and it was fine, its more of a mobile bill board than a heavy duty work horse to be fair, being stickered up later in the week.

Thats quite cool. My friend has a white astra diesel van that he has had re mapped and had a VXR bodykit and alloys fitted and a VXR check stripe put on as well as lightly tinted windows. sounds naff, looks good.

Yes i want it all sign written and want an eye catcher so to speak but i dont have a clue, got a few people on a local forum i go on the case.

Race vans are cool, I worked at VW Racing last year for a industrial placement as part of my degree and the caddy they have is really nice

I bought a large quantity of them some time ago and just used to machine the faces of them to remove the tvr logo, i decided not to with this set.

Unfortuanately these were my last set.
