Well I sold the Tuscan in March, enjoy the Landy but its painful being stuck behind all these people on the roads doing 45 mph. So I had to get something nippy again to visit people in.

was looking for R32 Gtr's, Scoobys etc. But drove the M3 and it clicked. does what I want, comfy, good on fuel on a run, but great handling and can plough on with the best of them.

Its a 1998 85k Evo in Estoril Blue, with black leather A/C and Sunroof. Paid 4.5k and 500 on a service since. Tidy example the guys at CPC said, and a car known to them. Not done much just fitted a set of HID's and silvervison bulbs. Came with Eibach Pro Spring, AC Shintzer goodies. Proving to be a good car so far, and better to run than the TVr, but with 80% of the performance I would say.

Here are some pics from yesterday.

Lovely motor matey, i love the colour. i keep looking at e36 m3's, just cant quite pluck the courage to take the plunge. I've previously own a 36 323 and it cost me a fortune as it kept breaking.

One day i'll own one though! If you havent already get your self over to bmwowner.com

EDIT: Get your self a z3 1.9 shifter fitted, very cheap OEM mode £30 (ish) but very effective, massively reduces the throw of the gear change. And if your feeling flush get your self a Storm motorwerks gear knob, transform the gear shift like you would believe.

very nice, windows a bit too black for my tastes, but a very tidy example there, such great value for money!

Thanks guys. The window tint was on the car and yes too dark for my liking too, but might fade! It has an AC Schnitzer short shift and knob already, very nice short throw smile

Lovely car mate, such good value now.
I had a non evo 3.0 a few years back and loved it, I'm sure I'll have another sometime!

Just a couple points, Z3 lever doesn't reduce the throw much at all in an M3 as it is already a shorter throw than standard E36s. It's a great cheap mod for the the other models though.
Bet that AC Schnitzer short-shifter feels great!

And the Vanos (BMWs variable valve timing system) is only a potential issue on the M3 evo's, it's very reliable on the non evo's.
It shouldn't be too much of an issue on evo's either really, provided regular oil changes and so long as you let the oil temp get up to normal before you give it the beans! And I'm sure there is a little oil filter in the vanos too which often goes neglected. It's one of the screws in the front of the vanos unit which should be cleaned out periodically.
There's too much scaremongering with M cars, they can be very reliable when looked after properly.
