First time poster! My VX220 N/A

Hi everybody! This is my first post on PistonHeads and I thought I would share a couple of pics of my recently acquired VX220.
Ive had the car for a little over a month and im chuffed to pieces with it
Ive spent around £800 on a set of new pontenzas (RE050 A back, RE040 front) and some carbon Dash plates and door cards (door cards have not arrived yet. Also bought new gear/handbrake gaitors and door mats. 
The car goes really well and im in love with the feelsome steering and dynamic chassis! Wish I could have afforded a turbo though.....
It is a great step up from my previous MX5 which was good but under powered and abit more understeerey coming upto the limit. The VX is alot more 'neutral' and has alot more grip. The VX at 22 is actually insurable aswell.
I have booked a trip to the Ring with my missus on the 25th September so if anyone is going and fancies meeting for a beer let me know

Never realised but the back of my house does look like coronation street world.....
My ZX10R is currently doing commuting duties from Hemsworth to Leeds, I love that bike - need to stop pulling quarter mile wheelies at 7.30 every morning on the same stretch though
Anyways as promised I havevtaken some amateur snaps on my Nokia:
It came up quite well after a quick clean, clay bar and polish/wax. Bloody peppered all over with stone chips though, nevermind!

Nice car, i'm surprised that you thought that the MX5 was understeery, maybe the geo was out!

I think that your right with regards to needing the MX5's geo setting. It might not have helped that the garage I bought it from fitted it with fresh front Federal Tyres Nice car, i'm surprised that you thought that the MX5 was understeery, maybe the geo was out!

Lol, I took that picture after the front tyres had been changed thus the grease smudges all over the wheels. The car is garaged however we were caught out in torrential rain 2 weeks ago and it didnt leak a drop. Thats when I found out the heater knob wouldnt turn though lol!My next car! I've got an MX5 too, and feel the VX220 is a natural progression - lighter and more powerful. It should also fit in my garage
Yours looks good (please clean the wheels though... dirty ones upset me
) and I like the colour. Which MX5 did you have, and how does the performance feel in comparison? I keep reading how they (NA VX220s) are not that quick in a straight line but I hope they are in compared to the '5!

I had a mk2.5 MX5 1.8 that was completely standard. My new car is just very different in comparison to the MX5.
The MX5 is easier to get in and drive to its limit. The VX is a lot lot quicker to about 80 and has a much more free reving engine but it still runs out of puff after 90. However the grip and feedback through the wheel is in a completley different league (akin to comparing an SV650 to a supersports bike for fellow bikers out there). - It takes a couple of weeks to adapt to the sensitivity
On reflection though I can see how a well modified 5' would be able to keep in touch with a standard vx220/elise. However the basis of the vx (Chassis wise)is so much better I would advise starting from there if you want the basis for a really good sports car. As a decent first sports car though you really can not beat the mx5.
