Lotus Exige with Bike V8 and sequential transaxle
Discussion
Had you been in the UK I'd have suggested Powertec, just because you'll get better support and if it goes bang you can knock on their door! However, since you're in S.Africa I'd say USA versus UK is much of a muchness when it comes to support. (I don't know what either company has in SA.)
All I can say is that Trevor Willis has run a Powertec V8 in his OMS (British Hillclimb Championship) for the last 5 years or so (2.8 I believe), despite giving up 100 bhp to the NME's he's very competitive - admitedly he is a bloody good driver. Anyway, I've only known it go once when it threw a rod at Loton a couple of months ago. Powertec had a spare engine in the car within the week. That's not bad service.
Ultimately it comes down to what you want it for. If you're competing, I'd be tempted to go for an SR8 as it would probably be cheaper overall and there'd be a lot more experience out there, but if you're creating yourself a track monster then I'd go for the characteristics you'd want. The Powertec unit is exceptionally compact and a Harley with Hewland transaxle will probably give you a weight distribution you wouldn't really want.
Good luck!

Nice concept.
You could also try one of these
I think there are a couple of V6 projects including an S1 with the VW R32 V6 and an Exige with the 2GR-FE (Camry / Evora engine). I can vouch for the latter engine (great power and torque for not too much bulk), although mines in an AW11 MR2, rather than Elise

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate the input. It is really expensive to import a car like the Radical into SA (35% duties + vat + ad velorium). Basically it works out 80% more than what you pay in the UK. Second hand Elises and Exiges here are quite affordable here. I already have a turbo charged K25 (K24 stroker) in a Exige S1 as a street car which I use for track days and Street class events. Basically want to build a balls to the wall Exige race car. We have a Altech GT series in SA which the car will be eligible to race in (Class B). Porsche GT3's and Ferrari 430's are in class B. Porsche GT2's and LM prototypes are in class A.
something like this?
they did that in a opel speedster or VX220

they won that year with that car. (bergrennen I believe)

Since you're importing from somewhere here's another alternative. Not sure how far along the road version is but it's not a paper engine, they've been racing in midgets for several seasons.
