SCZ4's E39 540i Sport

I've had my E39 540i Sport 4.4 V8 since the end of June. I've just finished doing all the small jobs I wanted to do before posting up pictures.
I bought it on a complete whim, wasn't even looking to replace my last car, but one boring Friday afternoon at work I dangerously scanned the pistonheads sales section and stumbled across this E39. Car had only done 54k miles and been owned in the same family since new. The list of options is ridiculous. Best modification has to be the flappy paddles fitted form the current 3 series. It also has a nearly £1800 worth of audio equipment which is so crisp with fantastic bass. Massage seats are over rated by the way
Never ever thought I'd ever own an auto, but it suits the V8 so well, makes for fantastic wafting, everything I could ever want from a daily car, well except 45mpg. Still have the M3 for the twisties. So here's a few further details and pictures.
Previous owner took a lot of time and money restoring the car to near new condition. He replaced both lower front under trays (frequently damaged on all E39s), rear number plate lights, rear PDCs and a bumper trim, had the wheels refurbished (diamond cut @ £300!), new centre caps, roundels and kidney grilles, and M5 replica folding electric mirrors..

455 - Active Front Seats (massage)
456 - Comfort Seats
465 - Through Load System (folding rear seats)

488 - Lumbar Support (Driver & Passenger)
494 - Front Heated Seats
508 - PDC (parking sensors front and rear)
522 - Xenon Headlights
780 - 18" M Parallel Alloy Wheels (staggered)
AC Schnitzer Exhaust Tips
Jobs I've done since owning:
Fitted M5 Lower Grill
6 Cylinder bonnet grills fitted (black slats, chrome outer)
Colour coded the double din stereo surround to match dashboard Aluminium trim
Fitted cup holders
Fitted Aluminium Dial Rings
Replaced colour coded rear diffuser with standard black diffuser
Had exhaust tips rewelded on, was sitting squint.
Replaced n/s front tyre, was perished and a few chunks on the sidewall.
Painted calipers gloss black.
Think that's it. Only remaining tasks are to have the winter wheels (standard 17" sport rims) reconditioned. Nokian winter tyres ready to go on. Also fancy a decent backbox and having the windows lightly tinted.

Very clean and understated, my kind of car! Parkers tells me it is around 280bhp and ~6 seconds to 60. What is the performance like in real world terms? Does it feel as powerful as it is?
Feels pretty quick, 280bhp doesn't sound much, but then it has 100NM more than my M3. The auto box perhaps makes it feel quicker than it is when you kickdown. Can't be far off 6 seconds to 60. It's the way it builds up the speed that's impressive, deceptively quick once over 60mph. BriC175 said:
