BMW E90 320d m sport

Hi there,

I'm fairly new to all of this, I've been a long time reader. But not posted many times... well I finally got my new car after one hell of a lot of saving and thought I'd share it with you guys....

Spec's are as follows:

> 320D M Sport
> Optional 18' Alloys
> Optional Dakota black leather
> BMW bluetooth kit
> Standard M sport kit

Looks good, perhaps too clean - get it used.

What's it like to drive then? Wish it was a bit more livelier or sporty (engine wise)? Or is it fine for what it is.

As for the engine... i'm sure its no contender against a 330D but as i have upgraded from a 1.6 mk 4 golf. It goes like the proverbial poop of a shovel. Very nice nice range 2nd & 3rd.... starts to run out of puff about 4k on, but hey its a diesel! lol

As for general handling... its very balanced & i just love hanging the back end out! (of course only when the law permits) lol

Yea it is a bit clean but I'm sad like that that lol

As for it being the car i will ever need.... I could be forced to agree so far.... only gripe with it being BMW in their wisdom do not allow for split fold rear seats as standard... fine and well, but I like going out on bike rides & camping holidays.... so a Thule roof system may be called for... lol

Oh and no people do not let me out at junctions anymore! lol

I have the exact same spec, just with the 17s (would have liked the 18s though).

Looking very nice, and the black is very clean! what sort of mileage is it?

Well thanks mate, it's a bi$%h to keep it looking that good.. lol
They make for a great car....

As for the mileage it's just ticked to 52,500... it has a few little marks on it, I might have the front bumper done next year (see how it fairs over winter)

It rides fairly well with 18's also especially paired with rft's

Mines done nearly 65k, the bonnet will need a respray next year i think, lots of little white flecks appearing, not major but a little bit annoying, wait until we have another winter of gritting out of the way.

Haha I prefer 'The Munich Taxi',

But I must say that everyone called me for having a 'rep mobile' at first until they drove it or went out in it..... there opinion soon changed, it'll tackle most boy racers in saxo's & even a3 140 Tdi's at a push lol, plus it doesn't stick out as a young persons car as I'm 24, i like to blend in.

All in all it'll drive smooth & waft about when I want it to, but it'll also put a massive grin on my face when I provoke it a bit, just gotta be careful with the back end in the wet.

One question though mate, are they really useless as people make out in the snow?? or are people bullsh%&ing a bit?

I had one of these for a loan car for a while. I'm not a fan of diesel but I was impressed with the engine. It's power delivery is almost elastic. It's like being wound up and shoved forwards, then runs out of puff until the next gear.

Well im 25 and my mates have varying types of cars,i like the understated looks of them and they are popular for a reason.

And yes they are hopeless in snow dont even bother!

Yea I know what you mean mate, I do kinda think it would be better with a map, but I'd sooner have a 330D

Ok, wasn't trying to be mean...it's just sometimes when people try to be too artistic with silly angles it distracts from the car; which should be the focus. Sometimes when I'm browsing the classifieds it's so annoying i just move onto the next car!

Really? I think you'll find the RFTs only contribute to a jarring ride. The dire performance in the snow is more to do with wide tyres on an axle with no weight above it. Just drive carefully and pack a spade to get you out of the carpark.

Great cars though, I love mine and will happily forgive it for its shortfalls. Good colour too...

Hi Tony. Hmm well I was recalling this thread but having scanned it, I am not so sure to be honest! I thought I had recalled some comment about RFTs being particularly bad in cold conditions but the focus on the thread is the need for winter tyres in general - have a gander and see what you think . So maybe the advice to the OP is not to 'ditch the RFTs' but 'buy some winter tyres' - got to be cheaper than a Landie surely ?!
