Thought I'd show the new addition to the driveway. I've had a mk3 MX-5 for 13 months but this mk1 has just joined the party! Some of you may have already seen the pics in the MX-5 section...

It's a 1995 UK 1.8, little bit of rust here and there but overall very tidy, 108k miles and almost FSH. Hope to get the rust sorted before Christmas and then keep it looking smart.

Here's some pics:

And a sneaky shot of my mk3:

Thanks. It looks much nicer lowered and the "pose" is just right. The ride did suffer a bit though as it's a little more crashy now it is lowered.

Fitted a Cobra bucket seat on the drivers side last weekend, as the original drivers seat wasn't in very good condition and wasn't particularly supportive. This new seat is brilliant - very supportive and really comfy.

Also, it passed the MOT this morning so cleared for another 12 months!

nono It's called "stance" you silly beggar.

I still need to see the mk1, but I feel embarrassed about coming over until I have the E36 up and running.

I reckon it's the Mk1, though he really doesn't want to admit it, as it would mean selling the Mk3!

I think Iain (Pulse) has a point. The mk3 is a truly brilliant car. It took me on a European Road Trip this summer, and I have some great memories. It is great on the road and the drive is "spot on". It also looks brilliant, and the stance is perfect now that it has been lowered.

Weirdly though, the fact that the Mk1 cost £1000, and that it does everything the Mk3 does - and the non-power steering, no-ABS, no TC connectivity of the Mk1 makes it a better drive.

My student loan won't stretch to a mk1, let alone a mk3! frown
