You must be the only person who runs a 16v with a VR6 gearbox - why? the ratios on a VR are stupidly long and badly spaced, why would you want that on a revy engine that needs to be kept in its powerband?

That said, stripped out golf C with a 16v is SPOT ON.

Really? I thought loads of people ran VR6 1st-3rd on 16v turbo or 16vG60 motors?

People run VR6 1st to 3rd on G60 an 16vG60 conversions becuase G60 gearboxes have very close 1st -3rd, as in you can only get to 54mph in 2nd at redline in a G60 an then the jump from 3rd to 4th is a tad large and takes you just out of the powerband so having 1st to 3rd from a VR allows for over 100mph by 3rd but most importantly 62-66mph in 2nd so great for 0-60 times!

The only possible advantage of having VR gears is that on some corners where a standard box would mean you are on the limit of 2nd having a slightly longer gear would allow you to complete the corner straighten up then change.
