Escort van 10 years on with 380,000 miles!!
Discussion
My Escort van
I think it deserves a thread as it amazes me every time it starts!!
Its a 1995 1.8d that had a conversion to one of the first 2000cc zvh (zetec bottom end with cvh head) engine courtesy of Ht racing, this engine has covered 310,000 miles with little more than servicing (had to replace a valve after the water pump went & took the cambelt off
but £60 of parts & 3 hours work
) It also has Rearo seats from an rs2000 after the origanial rs turbo ones were replaced as the bolsters had gone
Its a bit down on power these days & to be fair the body is past its best but it still drives well & is as reliable as its ever been
It is without a doubt the most amazing vehicle i have owned it may not be the best at anything but as reliable transport i can fit my dog or my toolbox in it's unbeatable!

Awesome amount of miles!
Whats the advantage of mixing the cvh and zetec rather than just using a zetec engine?
Simplicity of the cvh top end it just runs a rejetted xr2 carb so very little electics to worry about Whats the advantage of mixing the cvh and zetec rather than just using a zetec engine?

Also the zetec bottom end is much stronger than the cvh

Is a very common option with Rs turbos as you can use all the standard inlet & exhaust rather than having to adapt to the 16 valve head on the zetec.

I think the cvh head is stronger and Zetec bottom end provides more power. Whats the advantage of mixing the cvh and zetec rather than just using a zetec engine?
I may be wrong.
