Hi all,
I've been a long time lurker and thought it was about time I posted, so here I am in all my motoring glory!
I've always been into cars but always had better things to spend my money on (beers, slow women, slow cars, bikes, snowboarding...) and went through all manner of s
t hatchbacks - clios, escorts, golfs, 306s etc, and it wasn't until I got to 23 and had a bit of money to spend on insurance/running costs that I decideded to indulge myself!
about five years ago I went for the 306 gti-6...

I had the 306 for a couple of years and then came into some money. I wanted something faster, more sophisticated, fairly comfortable and a bit 'bling'...along came the R26!

I enjoyed the Megane for a year or so and then, come the first hot weekend of the year, I decided I wanted a change in lifestyle and wanted a VW Transporter T4 camper conversion, so I bought the 'Raptor Wagon'. It was a thing of beauty and we had a load of fun in it over the summer, but a driving pleasure it was not!!

It got to September of this year and I was in a bit of trouble...I missed having a 'fun' car, I needed to release some cash and I wanted a great car again. I needed something that could drive us to the mountains in relative comfort, something that was fast and nimble on the mountain passes and something with that 'je ne sais quois'....noise!!
The Impreza fitted the bill perfectly, 5drs, a big boot/fold flat seats, PPP package so it was fast, beautiful noise, good handling, fairly discreet...and, ooooh, that noise!!

That's it for now, hope to exchange many insults and much advice over the forseeable future!
Cheers,
Rob

it was indeed eagle eyes!
do you know it well? i'd longed for the day I could drive up it in something fun and the megane was awesome!
I know Alpe d'huez and the surrounding area very well. Been going every year since 1998 (virtually!) Either ski-ing or cycling. Must have cycled up at least 30 times! Much more fun driving up in the Scooby though - mine is a bug eyed version (the ugly one) with a prodrive pack. Agree about the noise, they really do make a fantastic sound. The prodrive pack utterly transforms the car.

Good set of cars there!
