DC2 Integra Type R
Discussion
I've just blown nearly 5 grand on an old Honda hatchback with nearly 100,000 miles on the clock. WHAT HAVE I DONE!
If any owners have any tips for me I'd be grateful, especially where to get insurance with some track day cover. I don't pick it up until next weekend, it's in very nice condition and all standard apart from the exhaust, last owner for 5 years and loads of history so I'm hoping I've got a goodun. It's not going to be used very often and I bought it with the intention of trying some track days.
Just make sure there are no leaks! The ariel seal in the boot leaked in mine and I couldn't leave anything in there if it rained. kept having to mop out the spare wheel well! It looked all good when I bought it, so just check the area around the wheel well for rust...
Other than that, well wear on her! Cracking car!

Looks cracking, check the rear wheel arches and side sills for rust, due to poor design their's a small slit in the body work on the front side that allows salt etc to get behind the side skirts, you can't see it unless you take the skirts off.

Mines only been in the country for one Winter and it's already got some surface rust on the arches and sills, UK cars do fair better but as they've been here from new it's still best to check.
Main week points are the old tin worm, Gearbox synchros, leaks at the rear through the ariel (as someone above said) and through the rear lights (check for condensation on the lens).
It's probably best just to take the rear lights off to check the seals just incase, only a 15 minute job.
Engine wise they are solid cars with many having over 150k on with no major work but even the youngest ones are ten years old now so it's the bodywork that you need to keep a close eye on.
Oh and post some more pics when you pick it up
Sorry, Insurance.

Hi you have yourself a great car there. I don't have one myself but one of my mates has had one for the past few years and its great fun. I went along with him as a passenger on a track day and it seemed good from where I was sitting. It was his first track day and its seemed to be perfectly happy being chucked into corners in non racing line ways. His had done about 60k and after about 40ish laps the clutch was on its way out and needed replacing a couple of days later. (it was fine before the track day) so that might be something to bear in mind.
