My first 4 x 4!

I decided the Jaguar S-Type was just costing too much money on finance & needed a 15K service plus discs & pads all round. So it got VT'd & collected several weeks ago.
After walking 4 miles in the snow before Xmas, as nothing was moving in Kent, I decided I wanted a 4 x 4. An entirely new concept to me as my cars have traditionally been good handling & sporty.
After a tour of E Bay originally looking at Ford Explorers which Mrs TR7V8 wasn't to keen on we started looking at Jeep Grand Cherokees. I found one that was low mileage 82K & had been looked after only 20 miles from me, although with a short 5 week MOT. We went to see it, did a deal & it is was mine.
It disgraced itself with a jammed ignition lock after 3 days, apparently a common Chrysler problem, which cost £115 at a local locksmith to sort. The MOT cost £240 as it needed CV gaiters on the front & I had them do an oil & filter change whilst they had it. So all in for the first month or so it's cost £2,600

Looks tidy,have had similar thoughts after the winter gone,but have not taken the plunge yet...enjoy!
Crap as in mud, and racing stripes, as in the inevitable lines of scratches down the sides of offroading 4x4's! No offense intended!Looks tidy,have had similar thoughts after the winter gone,but have not taken the plunge yet...enjoy!

Nope very dark grey, needs a clean as the first owner (only a 2 owner car) was a painter & decorator & managed to get paint on the seat. The local Lithuanian valeters have got 90% out but not sure how you get the rest out. Impressed with Chrysler US as I e-mailed them with the VIN & 3 days later got the build details back. Including it had Infinity 180W stereo with tape(?) & CD & equaliser. 10 Way eleccy seats, driver & passenger, auto dim mirrors & a ton of other toys. All of which still work!
Quick update on this for those that are interested. After the previous post have had to have new battery as it just died whilst out one day, so £87 trade! Now done 4,000 miles plus since Feb used a lot of unleaded (averaging 18MPG) ran around Devon with it on holiday last week with no probs. Thank god I don't pay for fuel
After a lot of debate just given it to local Jeep service agent to do a 90K & a look over.
Full service including plug change. They found front pinion seal & transfer box seal leaking, it had old style brake callipers (which they swap for later ones as the old ones have problems) & the schedule says auto box service. I had transfer box seal & oil change done. The rest can wait.
Damage was £507 all in. I've just ordered oils to do the diffs myself.
Service receptionist was quite impressed at its condition & was expecting an 11 year old motor to have a long list of what needed doing.
So clean bill of health for 7500miles. The reason for the service was that I've spent £78 on AA extended warranty which covers 5 instances of AA attended breakdown for £500 each & I have to pay the first £25 of each instance. BUT it has to be serviced to schedule at a VAT registered garage.
After a lot of debate just given it to local Jeep service agent to do a 90K & a look over.

I used to work for JEEP. The diff seals and Tbox are regular things. No problems there, the rest seem like just service stuff so it looks like you got a good 'un..
Really like them. Always fun in the winter and getting the ass warmers on the go and driving everywhere as normal watching people slip and slide all over.
