25th Anniversary Golf GTI

Popped out and bought a new Nilfisk 140 so here's a few shots of our 82k mile GTI. Standard engine but a host of other subtle mods and fully adjustable coilovers and lots of bracing.

Not a fan of VW but that's a really really tidy looking car!

Paint looks great.. What polishes and waxes are you using?

I think I'd repaint the calipers and black the tyres and personally wouldn't have had the windows so dark but it looks great!

Lovely car mate. I wished I spent the extra money and got a 25th Anniversary, then a standard MK4 GTI 1.8T. But I always had the intention of modifying the car, so went in that direction, good learning curve for me too. Looks great in black.

No polishing as that's been done already so there are no swirls or cuts.

The pre-wash/shampoo is Meguiars Nxt Generation Car Wash but I use it for foaming initially too. The wheels have had some standard Autoglym wheel cleaner and the tyres have been dressed with Autoglym tyre dressing (honest!).

The calipers do need painting in a much deeper red too but between you and me I think some of these would look better

Yes and that's partly why we bought it. My V6 does the work and the Anni is for the missus. This one was just under £6500 but with over 80k on it it'll keep a nice stable price although I really do not want to sell it for a long long time.

Speaking of GTI prices, have you seen how much a half decent MK2 GTI is nowadays? I sold mine for £2400 and it must be worth over double that now...damnit!

I've got one exactly the same as this and I've really enjoyed owning it. It'll be making way for something newer next month but I'm sure I'm going to miss it.....

My Uncle had one of them new as a company car, 3dr in Gunmental Grey alongside his purple TVR Chimaera 450. Absolutely gorgeous, he didn't hang around in it either, though blew the first engine at 4,000mi, I think his now wife had one back in the day too.

the 25th wheel really suite the car in black...... v.nice .... good work VW !
