Collected this yesterday.

I had been waiting for the right spec car since Christmas. I wanted; Clubsport pack, PDK, dual zone climate, either shark or gentian blue, yellow sticking, leather dash, sports chrono, rear camera, FPSH and Porsche warranty. Everything that came up matching that was either over budget, sold before it was advertised or sold the day it was advertised. I even lost out on a car to Jay Kay, cool story, bro.

I left my details and requirements with the likes of RPM and JZM in the hope of a call before a car was advertised.

There was some time pressure. I naively booked a track day at the 'ring this bank holiday Monday, back in December, thinking that's plenty of time.

Fast forward to last week and this car came up. Immediately placed a deposit. Being on a private plate, it meant waiting for the V5 to arrive, which it did, yesterday. Today I'm driving down to the Eurotunnel.

What's next? I don't like the black wheels and want to change them to either silver or grey. Hopefully more track days and some Manthey sprinkles too.

Gentian blue is superb, nice choice. Have a look at weiss gold alloys with it if you don't like black, seen one and it looked epic.

Eurotunnel was chaos on Saturday with 4-5hr delays at lunchtime but by the time I got there, I ended on the next train. The loaders tried putting me in the narrow and tight carriage despite the car being flagged at point of booking needing a wider, single deck carriage.

Surprisingly fuel efficiency on the motorway, MPG in mid-30s and the first car I've managed to drive from home (Herts) to the 'ring on one tank of fuel.

Track day was great as always, Darren and the DN team do a great job. Darren had hired the skid pan and kick plate for the sign on so we were all skidding around in both a controlled and uncontrolled way. It has been 10 years since my last DN, and jeez, the pace has increased with 992 GT3RSs teleporting into my rear view mirror. I was slow, not helped by driving a car I could still count my ownership in hours, and not driven the track in 10 years.

Had a chap walk over to me in the 'ring carpark on the track day... he was the car's first owner.

Now incredibly bored at the Eurotunnel terminal. Aimed to get an earlier train like I used to, I was offered an earlier train for €90 or my booked train... I'll wait.

That looks fantastic; very purposeful biggrin

Goodness knows what Porker it was I followed to the tip this morning; huge spoiler on it, full cage inside and it made me chuckle when he opened it up and dragged a bag of garden waste out of it laugh

The gold coloured wheels on a GT4 are satin aurum, which is a very different, and in my view much better, shade of gold to Weiss gold.

First spend... a CTEK battery conditioner / trickle charger, whatever it's called.

Booked a couple of track days for July, this week - Bedford Autodrome and Snetterton.

Collecting a used set of Girodiscs today for the bells/hats, to marry up to some new Girodisc discs and Pagid RSL29s so I can track the car without the impeding financial doom that comes with tracking a car with PCCBs. I'll box the PCCBs up and re-fit if/when I sell the car.

They're invaluable to have and with their easy connectors and extensions etc - easy to use and fit etc

I've got 2 different ones screwed to my garage wall - one specific for AGM batteries and then the MXS5.0 all rounder

1500 miles in and some initial thoughts...

Throttle response is instant. My previous two cars were turbo charged; F82 M4 Comp and S205 C63. Both quick cars and I got used to the power delivery and the surge of torque, but the throttle delay that came with them. In this, touch the throttle and it's instant.

PDK gearbox is excellent. The BMW DCT gearbox was great, but the PDK is better, instantaneous and easy to use and swap between manual and auto.

The handling is sublime. I owned an S2 Exige S a while back and the best way to describe it is a big Exige.

The steering feels hydraulic, what have Porsche done that BMW and Mercedes haven't ?!

The brakes are the best on any car I've owned. Steels or PCCBs, they're more than enough for the car.

Strange one but the quality of the switches and knobs exceeds any of those from other manufacturers of my previous cars.

The fuel efficiency is surprisingly good for regular driving. The 400+ mile drive to the 'ring was done on a single tank with the fuel light coming on approaching the end of each leg. I've never managed the drive on a single tank in 20 years.

On the subject of long drives, the carbon buckets are surprisingly comfortable. I had some initial discomfort on my first 2hr+ drive to the Eurotunnel but the 5hrs the other side, the pain went.

Bad bits?

Bit of a faff getting in and out with the bucket seats, again compatible to an Exige, this time with high seat sides rather than a door sill.

Road noise reminded me of that in the F82 M4 Comp, just turned up a little more.

I've had a disproportionate amount of instances of people not seeing me and had some close calls.

It would really benefit from a front axle lift.

I removed 39/40 bolts holding the bells to the discs today, and round off one. I now have three bells ready for new discs and one bell held on by one bolt that I need to sort banghead
