£40-50k to spend, what to get?
Discussion
I can spend up to £50k, but rather it was nearer 40k on a Porsche.
I'n not great on the different models but it has to be manual and convertible, what would you get? (I was also thinking S for the extra power)
I will use to commute (only 15miles each way) and do around 8k miles per year.
I'm used to driving cars that other might find uncomfortable (Atom), so ultimate luxury not a concern, but I would need to consider re-sale value if missing options make it harder to sell later on.
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks for the replies, has to be 911 as it has 4 seats (kids!)
The rear seats in convertible 911s are pretty unusable as they are more upright than the ones in coupes, I would try to see if your kids will actually fit first. For £45K this seems like a good one (no affiliation to the seller)

Nice car, but neither of the two must haves, convertible or manual. Rhodium Silver with Espresso Leather

Save £20K of your budget and get thishttps://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/20335932
and use your other car for the kids (when both needing a ride at the same time).
This will be a lot of car for the money.
A Boxster is not a 911 - not even close. A Boxster is comparable to a Z4, TT, SLK, 370z. A 911 is up against Aston Martins, SL, LC500.
With the OP’s budget I’d be looking at a gen 2 997 or a leggy 991.1, although prices for these cars seem to be on the up in the preferred spec.

I acknowledge that hence my reply. I feel for the money, for open top Porsche experience, they should reconsider matters. With the OP s budget I d be looking at a gen 2 997 or a leggy 991.1, although prices for these cars seem to be on the up in the preferred spec.

Their main differentiator is the position of the engine and therefore the way they drive.I personally can't stand the 911 lazy turn in and don't need the extra traction when finally balanced compared to how a mid engine changes direction but that's pretty subjective/personal.
Comparing a Boxster chassis to a Z4, TT, SLK or 370Z is a bit silly.
Thanks for all of the replies.
What’s your thoughts on this car. Fits the bill but 26 years old, looks like it has been well looked after.
