Disappearing users

I used to frequent this board, not been here for a while and noticed a lot of the users seem to have disappeared, even deleting their accounts in the process. Used to be a very frequent poster (slightly argumentative, always opinionated) who was a feature on almost every thread. Have I missed something here, has there been a great shake-up?

he got banned years ago. Did he return as another user?

Thanks chaps, the posts here reminded me of the user I was thinking of and some further digging highlighted the reasons as to why he may have been banned.
