Hey everyone,

I am new to the forum and own a 996 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, Arctic Silver/black supple leather.

Would really appreciate if anyone can point me to good places (or has personal knowledge) to dig up more history on 762-code cars or this one specifically.

• Factory option code 762, Market Launch Vehicle.

• Fahrzeugbrief signed 15.09 2003 by Dr. A Offermann (Porsche Director of Global Sales?), (ppa) and R. Eckert (iV). On behalf of Dr. Ing.h.c.F. Porsche Aktiengesellschaft.

• First registered 23.10.2003

Thanks.

Welcome to PH.
I had a 762 spec 2005 54 plate 997 C2s. One of many first wave cars specced as demos for dealers / shows / press cars and sold off after 9-18 months (if mine was anything to go by).
Sadly ours needed a new engine before it hit 10k and 18 months old, so obviously well used as a demo....

Thanks for the welcome!
All the information is useful.
I am trying to track down the history of the car just for fun and my own interest.
This is what I have found so far:

June 4, 2003 (04.06.03): This is when Porsche AG was granted the original EC Type Approval (certification for the design/model type) for the 996 C4S Cabriolet by the Luxembourg Ministry of Transport. This allowed them to mass-produce that specific configuration of the car.

September 15, 2003 : This is the date printed on the Fahrzeugbrief. On this date, Porsche officially signed off and internally registered the particular chassis, certifying that it was built in conformity with the type approval granted in June 2003. Signed off by Dr A. Offermann, Director of Global Sales?, on behalf of Porsche. For internal use with company plates?

(September 2023: The public debut for the 996 c4s Cab at the IAA in Frankfurt)

October 23, 2003: The car was transferred from the factory's internal registration to a new owner receiving the license plate HU-EM 902.

The car is also very highly spec'd.
I know it is an early car (MNR code 762), but how early? And what was its initially purpose?
I will dig deeper.
