Didn’t even know this service was available until I stumbled across it on the Porsche GB website last night.

Picked up a Boxster Style Edition for a 24hr ‘test drive’ this afternoon. Not cheap, but I’ve got the week off and one too many beers later and it was booked biglaugh. In my defence I am looking to get back into a Boxster in the not too distant future and wondered how a 718 would feel compared to the 987 I had.

The sales guy said the service only launched this week and I was only the second customer.

Car has 14 miles on the clock!

I figure it’s a better way of getting to know the car than what a quick test drive might tell you. But again, it’s not cheap!

I stumbled across this last night as well. I’m ok with the daily cost (although not cheap) but the insurance excess at £3k to £5k depending upon model is quite a risk.

So, spill the beans; what is the daily cost?

Per day
475 for a 911
250 for a Boxster

(Some others available).

Seems okay for a weekend hire.

I'm never sure why posters don't share the pertinent information biggrin.

Thanks for sharing OP.

I have done this when in Germany (seemed worth while with no speed limits) but didn’t know it was a thing in England.

Unfortunately the only UK Sites listed are Reading and London, plus I'm outside their age limits! frown

And £500 for a Taycan. Given how many of these they have sitting around I'm surprised it's not cheaper

Wonder if that holiday car rental insurance would cover it?

Trying to realise some revenue from the many pre registered vehicles that they now have sitting around!

Then just insure the risk - £10 a day max.

https://www.carhireexcess.co.uk as an example, there are many others. Routinely do this on holiday as the excess risk policies from car hire companies are extortionate by comparison. Never had to claim, so not sure how fast they pay out...

Seems pretty reasonable to me, not sure how one would expect renting brand new sports cars to total randoms to be much cheaper than that!

Seems alright to me too! Especially if you're considering spending (and I just checked!) £60kish for a Boxster!

Before going that route, best to check the fine print. Usually they don’t cover expensive sports cars. That policy doesn’t, for instance. My normal travel insurance doesn’t either.

Avis Prestige looks cheaper to me (992 C2S) and you can buy excess reduction from them also. Worth a look for comparison. They have the Cayman GTS also.

I’d seen this available in Germany and the USA. Didn’t realise it had hit our shores.

£360 for the day, but limited to 100 miles compared to 250 from Porsche. There are also more restrictive age limits with Avis.

Yes, the small print is important. I take an annual policy to cover holiday car hire. The limit is £5k excess but max vehicle value is £70k. The Boxster May just slip under this.

Car back safe and sound. Must admit, being a Yorkshireman that excess gave me the heebie-jeebies! But then so did the £249 rental price… biglaugh
