Our family will wheel the 964 out this autumn after many years in storage. To commence a recommission starting with an overdue engine rebuild. Who to consider and who to avoid please. South East based but location shouldn't limit recommendations.

Ideally someone who has a track record, UK based and will hand hold us, but not rip us off? Car has sentimental value.

If quality matters more than budget I would take it to Neil Bainbridge or Nick Fulljames.

Budget absolutely matters. Car has been in storage as it required this significant investment. Now due to circumstances we are wishing to have it back on the road but certainly not with an open cheque book. We don't wish to be ripped off or taken for a ride given the cost of a rebuild and value of these cars.

RSR Porsche in Hampshire do a heck of a lot of air cooled rebuilds and upgrades. I'd have a chat with Dave and let him know what you want/need doing to the car. Some cracking roads around there for the drive back as well

The previous owner of my 964 took the car to Bahnsport where they removed the engine with a view to rebuild but found everything well within tolerance so it was rebuilt with some new seals and gaskets at 115'000 miles. It goes very well and uses minimal oil! What you want is a trustworthy independent that is not going to look at this as a good earner!

Strasse in Leeds, Sam Lander in Malton, Mike Johnson in Pickering ... the old school are in their element with these cars. Just avoid any OPC unless you want to pay £200 + vat per hour with a big uplift on parts ...
