Currently on the look out for a 996tt but notice that many have the regular seats and not the winged sports version.

Having seen a nice specced X50,it has the normal seats and wondered if they are supportive enough and how do they compare in terms of comfort ect?

Cheers.

The only person that can answer that is you.
I had an Impreza with the winged seats and found it extremely uncomfortable at times because I'm powerfully built and my shoulder blades were in the same place as the wings.
Try both, see which you prefer, don't worry about what everyone else likes.

With painted backs and crest in the headrest a must - the regular seats are too pedestrian.

I have a 996T with the comfort seats, which are better than they look. Coped with a spirited weekend in Wales. I have a friend who had a GT2 with the sport seats (not buckets), and I found them uncomfotable, as the seemed to have too much lumber support, and just pushed into my back. Didn't like them at all.
Have sat in dozens of Porsches now, and the best all round seat I've found was the sports seats in my 964! Newer isn't always better.

They certainly look good!

The comfort seats I'm my old X50 were, err, comfy....

I have sports seats ( not the super duper be- winged efforts above) in my Spyder and don't find them as comfortable - lack of lumbar support for me.

My silver X50 has the same hard back sport seats as pictured above and I'm so glad I found a car with this option. I think they just set the interior off

Unless you really don't give a monkeys about painted backs and headrest crests. Go for the ones that you find most comfortable, they are different in height, adjustment range etc.

I have the standard seats on mine and they are very good. The sports ones are too narrow at the top (for me) and I can't rest the middle of my back without "hunching" forwards.

My 996tt has the hard back, crested head rest sports seats (see below). When looking for the car I was specifically seeking this spec. Personally I think they cosmetically look nicer than the non-sports seats, (especially with the painted backs, which I don't have). However, I had the non-sports seats in my previous 996 C2 and if anything they feel narrower and a slightly more snug fitting, but that may be because I'm only 5'8"!
If your not worried about the cosmetic angle best bet is try them both and see which suits you best.

I specifically wanted the Sports Seats when looking for my 996 turbo. Fantastic Slate Grey X50 turbo came up with standard seats and I bought it.

The Comfort Seats are more comfortable if you have broad shoulders as the winged Sports Seats do the push your shoulders forward (I had these in my 993 C4).

I have thought about some Recaro Pole Position seats but I'm happy at present.

Best Porsche seats Are the Sports Seats to in the 3.2 Carrera!

Nope, just short for my weight.
Advice still stands, try for yourself, buy whatever you prefer.

i actually have a fetish for these sport seats. there's no one that does sports car seats better than porsche imho. ferrai no. //M, amg, no. nissan GTR no. honda nsx no. mclaren, jaguar, audi need not apply.

no one else gives you a factory option painted hard back seat. i was oblivious to it until my cousin came home with an arctic silver 993 c4s with matching sport seats and i remember first peaking at it from the back and you can see how the glossy paint pulls the exterior inside and vice versa. it's eye catching without being overtly so. it's an elegant piece of design and i always demand it in my rides because it just looks so spot on.

I drove a couple of 996T one with comfort seast and one with sports seats. When eventually I get one it won't have sports seats.
