I have a reasonably sized library and some recommendations below:

Porsche, Excellence was Expected ( 3 vols) and The Porsche Book (3 vols) are essentials:

Porsche Geneisis of Genius (ludvigsen) excellent for the life of Ferdinand Porsche

The Porsche book.. mainly for photography

Porsche Showroom posters

Porsche race posters:

Porsche Drive (new)
Useful for driving the mountain passes of Austria and Switzerland

Porsche and Me.. Hans Mezger

The Last eleven..very limited edition

Porsche 917

Battle for the Beetle:

Hitler's Racing Machines:

Recently got Dr Porsche's War machines, by Ludvigsen also...there are lots of books but above are some of the better ones.

That is quite a collection - I really like the look of :

"The Porsche book.. mainly for photography"

Would it be possible to take a few shots of what's inside - I've found it online but there are no details of whats in it - I'd basically love the definitive book on Porsche from a design/visual perspective ? (rather than Historic / Technical) Cheers smile

Two I recently bought were:

911 Love
http://www.amazon.co.uk/911-Love-50-Years-Porsche/...

Interesting as it portrays a wide range of 911 owners and their stories.

and

Porsche Origin of the Species
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0837613310

Interesting for the early years, Porsche during the war, how the company came to be etc.

A couple not already mentioned in my library,

Some great articles from a simpler time of the Porsche club of America.

I'd love to tell you more but it's still unopened! Supposed to be good however...

Wont say much about Porsche and me, however origin of the species is fantastic smile

Not Porsche, but it is mentioned and if you know anything about it you'll understand why I was very chuffed to finally get my hands on a copy a couple of years ago.

I own a number of the books above, and a few not mentioned; I'll be buying more, but I've got a slightly different question: What's the Porsche book that hasn't been written yet? Is there a gap in published Porsche history, technical details, lifestyle, motorsports, or..?

I think it is one of the most documented marques of all, especially if you add the numerous magazines and websites that are published. Ofhand I cannot think of a major gap, but will be interested to hear from others. Also interested to see other books of course!.

Something more unusual is the Pinky Lai book. It's available directly from him on his site. If you don't know him:

http://www.designboom.com/technology/pinky-lai-int...

Also recommend 911 Love: http://www.amazon.co.uk/911-Love-50-Years-Porsche/...

I think someone already posted the revised edition re-issue of Carrera RS (1st editions sell for over £1,100 last I checked).

Worth having a nose around WAFT publishing, they published the book on SCG003.

Do you have any links to the Pinky Lai book? According to his website you have to pre-order it so not sure if it's between print runs or not out yet at all?

It's print on demand, the website is misleading as the book has been out for a couple of years. I emailed Pinky and he replied and sent over a copy. Was several hundred Euros if I recall but it's a thick book with a lot of unique content. If you put in your enquiry, it should respond with a gmail address. Alternatively, check his Facebook page, there should be some details there.

If you want to see what the book is like, I'll take some photos and post them up this weekend, I'm away from home at the moment with work.

I'd really appreciate that mutema, he had an interesting flair for artwork (very much of its time) and I think it very much sparked a movement, I'd like to learn more.

This covers all variants of the Carrera 2.7 and is a wonderful resource for anyone owning one of these models.......it is a big book and covers the cars in great detail. A few sample pages below. Author is Ryan Snodgrass.
