Porsche Cayenne MK3
Discussion
Hi all, just new to the forum.
Looking for some advice, I have a MK2 Cayenne and put down a deposit on Saturday for the MK3 after weighing it up against a RRS. I found that the face lifted RRS was vastly over priced and beginning to look it s age. Anyway, the Porsche dealership (Leeds) don't have a clue when they will be delivered after the first batch in March, which is a tad annoying. Does anyone know when that will be?
Also, I configured a MK3 around a month ago in which it offers up a sports package at around a £3K extra, that has now disappeared from the configurator. Anyone know what that is?
Thanks.

Yeah, I think that’s what it was called but disappeared now!
This often seems to happen when Porsche introduce new models....there was a similar bodykit/package for the 991.2 which was on sale briefly and then withdrawn for a few months because of issues with the supplier. It's a definite weak spot for Porsche IMHO....seems to happen quite a lot with new cars. Cars get introduced and gradually options get released and then there are supply issues with the parts. Mine arrives next month. Had a few issues so was in Reading addressing those with management. At the time I was told it was best to get my spec in early, as if the slot was missed I’d be looking at Nov at the earliest. I queried if it was related to the shutdown and they confirmed no production/deliveries for ~6 months after April deliveries.
This concurs with posts from other threads where people with early deposits are now expecting their cars in >Nov. In short, unless something has changed, September seems dubious.
WRT sport design kit, I’ve been toying with adding it to my spec. Mainly because I’m unsure of the black plastic trim, I think I actually prefer the standard front spoiler. Sport Design was on the configuration only last week so they must have just pulled it.
I’ve decided to not spec it for now. You can buy the parts (primed so need a spray) and fit it later. Or get the original parts wrapped or sprayed instead.
Hope that helps.

How do you mean get the parts later? As in but the car then get the dealer to fit them when available?

Yes, you can buy the sport design kit. It’s just the front and rear spoiler plus side skirts. They come primed, so any body shop can spray and fit. How do you mean get the parts later? As in but the car then get the dealer to fit them when available?
If you google you’ll come across posts from people who have done that with the Mark 2. I’m not sure if the one for MK 3 is out yet, but it will turn up.
However, your spec won’t be closed for quite some time if you’re ordering now. So you can amend before build if you definitely want the kit. I guess it’s less hassle and possibly cheaper to factory fit (although the old one has been cheaper then £3k once you factor in painting and fitting it probably works out the same).
If like me it’s just the plastic trim you’re not sure about, you could consider spraying the existing parts or even a wrap if you can get one that matches the paint. The wrap would only be ~£250 and the spray job ~£700-£1k from my initial queries. (NB I’ve specd the non metallic white, as it’s “whiter”, might be more expensive for metallic and definitely harder to match a wrap).
Hope that helps.
