I know it's not a Porsche......
The wife and I have a project rebuild 356. We have a restorer working on it for us. The car consists of 3 parts. A grp body, a metal frame and a donor beetle chassis. The body and frame are bonded together. This is our problem.
I was wondering if there is someone out there who has built one as a kit. I would like a manual or information how the body is bonded to the frame. The frame is then bolted to the chassis. How many bolts and where are they? If some has a manual for the Chesil build that would be great if we could have a copy.

Thanks for any help.

Not a manual, but a build diary with photos of the chassis which may be of some help to you:

Thanks jkh112 & peterg1955. Have tried both those links. We have now been sent a manual from the Speedster and Spyders club which is very useful but we still have a problem.
We need information on how the frame is fixed to the GRP body. We are in touch with the makers of the body and waiting on some information from them.
If anyone out there has attempted to remove the frame from the body and knows the fixing points then please let me know.

http://www.ddk-online.com/ Try this site a section on it about replicas loads of guys doing their own builds . Chesil is an obvious but found the owner a complete waste even when my original kit was purchased from them by the person I bought it from .Another contact is Garry Blundell from speedster clinic ,just google for details. Had one a few years back and regret selling it ,it was truly magnificent you could not tell the difference between it as it had loads of original 356 parts ,steering wheel ,umbrella hand brake ,seats ,bee hive rear lights ,original Porsche colour silver, Happy to send photos if interested in how it looked .
Good luck in your quest

woodysnr.
We have registered for the ddk forum. Waiting acceptance.
We are also in email conversation with Gary at Speedster Clinic.
Also awaiting pictures from the guys who make the Chesil body's and attach the Chesil built frame to the body. They are sending photos of the process.
We now have a manual from Chesil. There is some useful information in there.

We would still like to know of anyone who has undertaken the strip down of a Chesil speedster before.

A couple of photo's.

One with the restoration under way.

Well you can with this one. The headrests give the game away, and the seats are nowhere near the originals, by the look of the backs.

It's a Chesil, so yes seats are not like the originals in a Porsche 356. They are comfortable though and a bit more added safety with the head rests.
