991.2 GT3 : Incorrect Tracker Alert
Discussion
Took delivery of my 991.2 GT3 yesterday, which is very nice indeed. However I got the widely reported Vodafone tracker alert - not the one where the car is stolen but the emergency assistance one that you get if you crash - keeps going off and I’m pretty sure I haven’t been in an accident.
Spoke to Porsche, who I assume is really Vodafone who said it was a Porsche issue with the coms in the car and I should speak to them . I know it’s been discussed before, but can someone who’s had the same issue give me some advice on how to resolve it please. Nice to have this info before I speak to the OPC.
Other than this minor niggle; I think the car is quite a pleasant thing

I spoke to OPC about this at the Cayenne launch on Thursday. Still no fix in sight. Bearing in mind I along with others reported this fault in October last year, Porsche have not exactly covered themselves with glory in finding a resolution. Mine remains disabled (only the crash part, tracker security working as normal for insurance purposes)

Thanks - how do you disable the crash bit - is that Vodafone or OPC who do this ? Cheers

I have the same issue on my car too (Touring).
I asked my OPC about it, and they said:
"The warning that you are getting is a spurious fault.
The car is sending a message to Vodafone that the air bags have deployed. Vodafone are then calling you to make sure you are ok.
Porsche are aware of this issue and you have 2 options at this stage.
Option 1 is to call Vodafone on 01282 473732 and ask them to switch that part of the system off. You will no longer receive these false messages but if you were to have an accident and the airbags were to deploy Vodafone will not respond.
Option 2 is to leave the system as it is until Porsche and Vodafone have released a cure".
I have chosen option 1 but asked them to let me know when a fix has been sorted out.

Would it be easier for you if I take your 991.2 GT3 and you take my 991.1 GT3 which doesn’t have any of these issues?Cheers

Hi S - long time no post - bloody decent of you - thanks
No problem - I collected my car from winter storage this morning so it is spotless. You probably should pay me something extra towards the exchange.
