Ceramic coating for new car at Reading OPC
Discussion
I'm looking for recommendations for a detailer for my new Cayenne, due to arrive at Reading OPC in the next couple of weeks. In the past I haven't bothered to have new cars detailed, instead relying on a good wash/wax regime, but this is our daily driver and will live outdoors, so I'm leaning toward getting it treated with Gtechniq or a similar ceramic coating. If you've used a detailer who is happy to work on new cars, ideally at Reading before collection, I'd be very keen to get recommendations or to hear about your experiences.
Thanks in advance!

Not sure Ceramic costing is the right thing for a Cayenne to be honest....at least if it gets used as hard as ours does. We have a 7 and a 9 year old, a dog and it's done just under 20k miles in a year. Ours has a ceramic coating I wash it myself etc but the boot and sills still show all the marks that you'd expect from kids and dogs getting in and out of the car etc. Ceramic coating helps you keep the car clean but I don't think it does much more than that. I'd be getting PPF in the right places.
Richard Tipper of Perfection Valet did mine with Gtechniq, I couldn’t recommend him more and is one of the best in the business.

Can’t give you a specific supplier but I have a combination of PPF and ceramic. I tend to pick up my cars at the factory and get it done same day. A couple of years ago I had it done when odometer read 9km.
Important to get PPF done first and then ceramic. In my view both are very good.

Ceramic coatings aren't supposed to be bomb-proof. They'll help minimise or even prevent fine scratches and swirls but careless bashes by kids, dogs and even adults will take their toll.Cazooch said:

Richard is indeed one of the best in the business, he is mobile, does an awful lot of new Porsches at OPC's and is a big Porsche fan which always helps. He did my 997 GTS prior to collecting from 911V and there aren't many supercars he hasn't worked his magic on. Call him on 07860 336825.pete said:

Our current Cayenne is now three years old and 40k on the clock. Adam at Revolution Detailing near Bristol applied Gtech from new and also put some localised PPF on the rear bumper and door cills which is where scuffs often happen. The car still beads up perfectly, a quick blast with the jetwash and the crap floats off. Ceramic coating recommended from me.
Thanks for the recommendations everyone. I'm looking primarily for a way to make the car easier to keep clean, accepting that it will inevitably pick up a few stone chips and scuffs over the years. I'll have a chat with Richard Tipper as a first port of call to see what he recommends.
