Panamera - Discs & pads changed - Leeds recommendations?
Discussion
Hi,
I have just bought my first Panamera and I need to have the pads and discs changed.
I expect this would be just 1 hours labour and I would also expect most non-Porsche qualified mechanics to be able to do this.
I had a look at the Porsche independents and they appear to charge from £65+vat per hour. Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations of perhaps someone that does not necessarily work on Porsche cars daily but would still be able to complete this work and charges less?
If the work required was a bit more than pads and discs I would have considered perhaps just a Porsche Independent.
I am based in Leeds.
Thanks in advance

Hi If the car needs all pads and discs, the electric parking system would have to be put in service mode, and then there is a specific procedure for calibration of the handbrake after repairs.
You need to have them replaced by somebody with knowledge and diagnostic tool for the car.

Thanks for your reply Chris.
Is there a way I can check if it will require calibration via the dash somehow?
From my understanding rear discs are thin right now and pads are worn enough to warrant a repair.
Whilst the front pads are worn a little and discs whilst lipped a little are not so bad and I could get by with just doing the rears for now.
I was planning to do the rears for now and then the fronts in September along with the full service with a Porsche Independent.
So I was just wondering before going to a local garage if there is anyway I can check what you mentioned - the electric parking system would have to be put in service mode?
Thanks

Struggling to understand why you'd risk taking an expensive car out of the hands of an OPC or respected independent to save 20 quid or so on a pad change???
If this really is the case try a local backstreet garage close to home or have a go yourself...
My car wants for nothing and is fully serviced at a dealer. That includes the $600 oil change and $3k for 40k service and ac flush. . If this really is the case try a local backstreet garage close to home or have a go yourself...
But, they wanted $5k for disk and pad change. When I priced up the Oem parts it looked like over $2k of labor. I did it for $600 with superior products. My car stops better and isn’t covered in brake dust.
