Boxster wheel balancing
Discussion
Hi Guys
I drove from London to Warwickshire yesterday to see my parents.
At around the 70mph mark I could feel vibration / wobble through the wheel. I have done lots of work on the car and I knew that wheel balancing was due to be done.
My parents have a large tyre and exhaust centre 5 minutes away so I dropped the car off and went back an hour later.
From there, within 10 minutes I was back on the motorway heading for London and at speed the car did not feel good at all. It did not feel planted at all the road and it felt a bit like I was fighting with the car a lot. There is no way I would have wanted to drive fast.
I stopped and checked the wheel bolts were all tight and that the front and rear wheels had gone on the correct way around! The had.
I have driven it again this morning and when I reach circa 40mph I have a wobble/vibration through the wheel, it is genuinely uncomfortable driving it.
I guess my question is, how can they get the balancing so wrong if this is indeed what is wrong??
I will look on the web to see if they have a centre near me, if not I will have to take it somewhere else on Monday. If you shorten the word 'professional' and then put the word 'tyre' after it, then that is the company name in question. This, I am sure is just a simple, genuine error. The centre in question seemed utterly professional and polite,
Any thoughts?
Cheers

Wheels in motion Chesham. They will get them spot on.
Hi, thanks.I am based in Surrey.
I am prepared to travel for the right place though.
To be honest, I have changed the front struts and wishbones so perhaps I need to take it somewhere to get it set up perfectly anyway.
I did have 4 wheel alignment a few months ago and was really hoping to avoid the need to having this done again.

If you changed all that after the alignment then it will need doing again. They do that there too.
I just sent them an e-mail.I will call them Monday if I do not get a reply as would prefer to take it somewhere recommended.
I would need 4 x wheel balancing and a full geo / tracking set up.
I want to know, in my own mind that it is perfect
Thank you very much for the recommendation.
Put your postcode in here and got to the nearest Hunter Road Force equipped place.

Cool. I have been using them for probably about 8 years now. I had a couple of issues once (one just a wheel weight clearance issue) but all resolved satisfactorily so they continue to get my business.I emailed Wheels in Motion and a chap called Tony messaged back. Hi chaps
Well I’ve just returned from Wheels in Motion with Tony and his team.
What a fabulous experience!!
I was there for a couple of hours watching Tony and Gareth work their magic!
The car was set up correctly on the Hunter Geometry machine before the wheels were balanced.
Tony and Gareth didn’t mind me watching and answered any questions that I had. You can see they have a real passion for what they do and the car now drives as it’s meant to.
I highly recommend them.
