Dead fly carnage !
Discussion
So I bit the bullett 6 months ago and bought a 7 year old boxster S , ( white ) from a OPC , I had them include a ceramic coating as part of the deal . I havent been able to use the car much due to work commitments but in the past two weeks have done a few 300 mile motorway trips , The car was sprayed with symmonds bug remover and jet washed then two bucket washed using Auto-Glym shampoo the day after, but the front end still looks like I drove through a fly abbitoir ! what can i use to get rid of the Flies at this stage ?. and is there anything I can appy pre-trip to avoid this in the future ? . Thanks .

I’d love to know too. Spent hours with the car soap and wash mitt trying to get them off. Like little black patches of concrete. Week later same again. Bug apocalypse. Think I should change my username to bug jam.Flies can etch their way into the topcoat at which point about the only thing to do to really get them gone is a polish.
To remove flies I find AutoFinesse Citrus power does a good job. Let it soak and then wash with a mit and 2 bucket method with a decent shampoo. I use AutoFinesse lather. I do also snow foam the car but it depends how far you want to go with these thigns.
If you get them all off then I thoroughly recommend applying some protective coating/sealant as these make things much easier to clean. I used to use Blackfire sealant on my cars (3 or 4 layers at the front, 2 on the rest) and it make cleaning off flies a lot easier. If you want something even better then a ceramic coating makes a huge difference to how easily the flies come off. But you need to machine polish before applying them. I have Gyeon Mohs on my Cayman and it makes washing off the flies a lot lot easier. Just as well as it got absolutely covered the other day after a spirited wee run out.

Thanks , The car was ceramic coated 7 months ago ! but Im thinking that as it was a sunny / hot week the flies got baked on ! . Now I am hesitant to use anything that might harm the ceramic coating. Will the Auto finesse Citrus power strip the ceramic ?To remove flies I find AutoFinesse Citrus power does a good job. Let it soak and then wash with a mit and 2 bucket method with a decent shampoo. I bought a bottle of Autoglym tar remover stuff to treat the bug infestations on my front end.
Worked well, until I lost the bottle, no idea where it went.
Do you mean you lost the courage to remove them due to all the dead bodies?Worked well, until I lost the bottle, no idea where it went.

My bottle is intact ,my car is fly infested ,again !

Nope - Citrus Power doesn't even strip wax yet does eat away at grime very well if left to dwell for a while. The Auto Finesse Citrus Power bug and grime remover is a gentle but effective formula removing contaminants with ease, without the need for scrubbing or deteriorating your car wax or sealant layers.

No, it won't harm a ceramic coating. Which coating did you get out of interest? Some have 'top up' stuff you can spray on which can also help keep the crap from sticking. Edited to add, I buy 5 litre drums of it for thirty odd quid from polished bliss and then put it in a spay bottle. Much cheaper in bulk.
Whoever's ceramic coating you have, they should also make some sort of snow foam which can be used with it. I killed a large number of continental European insects on the way to, round and from the DN19 trackday last week. Car cleaned up a treat using foam and then a regular two-bucket wash. (I am s
t at cleaning cars, so if I can do it anyone can. I do suspect the Gyeon coating on mine really helps.)

will have to check ,as it was done at an OPC , they normally sell the ceramic finish plus the after care kit for about 400. but in this case they did the coating as a freebe ,but I didnt get the kit. My problem is that I dont have a driveway , but im a few hundred feet from a garage with a jet wash and a large washing area , so Im limited to that . I jet wash it , then bring my own buckets ,products , etc , they don't mind . I get a bit peeved at people asking how much I charge though as they dont think the car is mine !!
t at cleaning cars, so if I can do it anyone can. I do suspect the Gyeon coating on mine really helps.)use a clay bar, ignore the muc-off and other such products, the only way to get rid of the contamination is to get it done properly. I would suggest as you are keen enough to insist on a ceramic coating (prob not the best from a dealer (if they even did it)) I would speak to a local reputable detailer.
