Hi all,

Having decided to hang onto my 997 turbo for longer I now need to get the wheels refurbished. They came painted black, which I quite like, but after 10 years they are starting to show signs of wear.

So, can anyone here recommend a wheel refurbisher in the North West, ideally somewhere near to Warrington?

I'm thinking of getting them blasted and powder coated so it's a "proper job", but the best quote I've had for this so far is about £600, which sounds a tad high. I will look at a mobile solution (i.e. just repainted) instead if anyone comes highly recommended.

Many thanks
Gary

The Wheel Specialist near the Vauxhall factory Ellesmere Port and there's one in Manchester do a drive in drive out in a day service, the workmanship is good and you can normally find a discount code for 10-12% off. From memory a set of 19" wheels I had came in at £350-370ish with a code, fully powder coated etc

Try Chris at Exel. He'll come to you with a set of loan wheels if necessary.

I used the Ellesmere Port one for very plain wheels on my Merc and I couldn’t recommend them.

you don't want powered coated finish imo.

Why not? Is paint better? I'm not an expert so opinions welcome, thanks.

IMO you get what you pay for in respect of wheel returns and circa £600 for a a set of wheels that is likely to be diamond cut doesn't sound excessive for a 997. Whilst I haven't used him, Chris at Exel has a good reputation (check out his Facebook page) & his attention to detail plus the loan wheels means he has good repeat business as customers change cars or inadvertently clip kerbs.
