PCGB Track Day Goodwood - Wednesday 4th
Discussion
Just got back. Did the morning only session. Hit a blooming bird though Fordwater (second time it's happened ) but fortunately it was a glancing blow and no damage. Unlike the poor GT4 which went in to the wall after Fordwater. Hope the driver is ok, track was stopped for about an hour so I had to make haste back to work.

What were you in? Thanks for posting the pics... glad to finally see a shot of me and my car in action!.

What can i say about the day.. was a nice one... great weather and quite a few nice cars too including the 911R... number of .2 GT3s and GT3 RSs and yes good representation from the Cayman crew too, there was even a brave Cayenne GTS running around.
I did catch up with the gent that had the off in his GT4... he said that he basically got a really good run though Madgewick and was coming out much much faster that he expected (+15MPH he reckoned), got a bit worried, and just lifted.. and that was that...lift-off oversteer, touch on the grass and then tyre wall creating a lot of mess down the passenger side of the car and an unfortunate delay in the running. Main thing is that he was ok... and no one else was involved.
I went to the day wanting to experience a bit of British motorsport heritage at this classic circuit - soak in the atmosphere.
Such a classy place. The circuit is fast, and has lots of change in elevation - some off camber corners - and basically no run-off! I loved it.
After going out for a sighting and learning in my first stint - came back - adjusted tyre pressures.. was able to borrow an M A Horne from a friendly chap.. and was ready to go back out. The GT4 was mighty around here - obviously its not a race and everyone is driving at their own pace and comfort level - but I started to get very comfortable with my car and set up.. can just carry so much speed into corner and really close up to more powerful cars under braking and though the corners - meaning that you are close to them though to exit and can stay with them on a straight - but as soon as you come into the next corner you are closer still, under brakes and then able to set up for overtake.
Got some nice comments about my driving and progression throughout the day.. number of the GT3 and RS owner saying they were surprised how crazy quick the GT4 seemed. Oh.. i also picked up noise badges of honour...102db on consecutive laps through St Marys, meant i got a noise board, black flag for noise and noise stickers.
. Oh and Cayman GTS's are surprisingly loud too if you didn't know.
Car just flows and hold the line so well, and Goodwood is just that type of circuit... it's a short lap with lots going on.
It was just a fantastic day... met a few more great people and immediately called the PCGB Office to book onto the next day.
Roll-on Donington Park on the 24th!
Obligatory Pics!.. enjoy.
