OPC has quoted me £370 for an oil and filter change on a 2018 991.2...seems a little excessive, or am I out of touch?

That's basically what they do in a minor service (+ pollen filter / "air intake pre-filter") which is £495. So seems right to me ..

Do you own the car outright and are you keeping the car for ever ?

I don't get the oil change thing to be honest.

I’m very much a fan of the annual oil change. You really do feel/hear the difference from an oil change after 2 years, not huge difference, but enough to notice.

My engineer’s brain says extra noise and vibration = friction = strain on the engine. And I just can’t bring myself to knowingly put extra strain in the engine.

The Porsche recommended 2 yearly oil change is great, and probably sufficient. But a yearly one alleviates any risk.

And at ~£80 (if you do it yourself) every 2 years between OPC servicing why not...

If you can "hear" "old" oil... being kind, you're imagining things, sorry.

Always done annual oil change, as well as running in oil change
Piece of mind and looks good in service book

It’s about right.

If you have a local mechanic you trust I’d buy a filter from your local OPC and buy the oil separately, its only an oil change.

Get the oil from Opie Oils and have the OPC do the change, probably save £80 versus OPC's charge for oil.

I agree, and as soon as oil starts talking to me I’ll present myself to an institution. What I mean is ‘hear’ the engine not running as smoothly as it once did.

I’m going to stand by what I said, I do think there is an audible difference in the smoothness of an engine pre and post oil change. Especially when you replace 2 year old oil.

I pay my OPC about £150 for an oil change if I provide my own oil.

Still trolling the threads eh 996? You clearly have nothing worthwhile to contribute here...
