I can spend up to £50k, but rather it was nearer 40k on a Porsche.

I'n not great on the different models but it has to be manual and convertible, what would you get? (I was also thinking S for the extra power)

I will use to commute (only 15miles each way) and do around 8k miles per year.

I'm used to driving cars that other might find uncomfortable (Atom), so ultimate luxury not a concern, but I would need to consider re-sale value if missing options make it harder to sell later on.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

996 turbo /997 turbo (might be too much) / boxster gts or r8 v10 spyder

there's not a huge amount of choice in that price bracket for convertable manuals with a bit of power

Personally I'd compromise a fraction on the soft top and have a gen2 997 4s targa. In manual.

Thanks for the replies, has to be 911 as it has 4 seats (kids!)

The rear seats in convertible 911s are pretty unusable as they are more upright than the ones in coupes, I would try to see if your kids will actually fit first.

My 5&7 year olds have no problem in a 911 cab, certainly on the passenger side, other side depends how tall you are as the driver.

£50k might get you close to a 991.1 cab - you'd need to shop around.

I have one, but if your child is over 3 months old, I doubt it'll fit. smile

981 Boxster GTS or 718 Boxster S if you can find one. You might be able to get into a 718 Boxster GTS (2.5) if you try hard enough.

Luckily I have small children! I have another car for back-up when needed. 911 will be used to pick them up from clubs etc.

Do they have rear seats?

Helpful tip of the day… leave the kids at home, and get a cayman r, preferably manual, or better still high end Caterham!

But the Targa does not struggle with this, and has Coupe seats. A win.

For £45K this seems like a good one (no affiliation to the seller)
