Porsche's used warranty and aftermarket exhaust?
Discussion
What would happen if you had an aftermarket sports exhaust fitted while your car was under their approved used warranty? I've always assumed it would be void, but what if you got the Porsche centre themselves to fit it? Surely it wouldn't void the warranty then?
Also, does anyone have a sports exhaust fitted to their car that the salesman might turn a blind eye to
Thanks
ETA If the car was a 997 Turbo.

It would be void, and they do one (last I saw about £1500).
Interesting. I'm sure i was told there was no Porsche OE 'upgrade' exhaust available for the 997 Turbo. Only the Carrera.Hope your right

Edited to say - apologies Mr pg, Yes your are correct, there is a OE Porsche Sports exhaust. For some reason i assumed Lambo was referring to the Turbo (got confused with his other thread asking for opinions on the 997T - for which i do not believe Porsche offer a sports exhaust)

Sorry I may have confused you, I was referring to a aftermarket sports exhaust fitted to a 997 Turbo. So it would definitely be void? I'm sure I’ve read on here that some Porsche centres turn a blind eye to some exhausts fitted?
Thanks
ANY PART WHICH IS NOT A PORSCHE OFFICIAL PART FITTED BY THE OPC NETWORK VOIDS YOUR WARRANTY.Thanks
IT IS NOT UP TO THE OPC TO SAY WHETHER YOU'RE COVERED OR NOT. IF THEY TELL YOU YOU ARE, THEY ARE LYING. YOU'RE NOT.
End of story.

It's down to how friendly your dealer is. They can always put the stock one back on if there is a big problem but some OPC's are not so nice. Thanks

Yeah, I'm sure that faced with a big warranty claim and an inspector from Reading on the way your local OPC will be happy to swap exhausts over and commit insurance fraud for you, jepardising their franchise.

What about this? According to this it's illegal for them to void your warrenty?

Applies to the new car warranty only (two year in Porsche's case). http://www.scuderiasystems.com/root-warranty.html
Completely irrelevant to the insurance backed Approved Used one, where they can exclude what they want to.

I just don't understand why Porsche don't do their own exhaust for the Turbo? They do it for the rest of their cars? This really is putting me off a Turbo because I don't like the sound of one with a standard exhaust, but then if I put anything else on I won't have a warranty? Oh well!
