Hello all

have recently been called back to work and its over 100 miles each way. 2-3 times a week.

after looking at trading the car in i cannot find anyone that will offer me less than over 3k on the settlement figure.

an idea came in my head of rather than instantly binning 3k and then spending more on a car with the current prices i could convert it?

any idea on cost? where to go?

2.7 boxster manual

thanks

I looked into converting an automated manual to manual and the cost for that was c 10k (quite a few years ago, so hourly rates will have likely gone up since then). But that was using the same gearbox.
You need a new (used) replacement box for your conversion, so to me 3k seems a little light on the budget, but am sure somebody can give you a better idea.

Why not see if someone with an auto would be willing to swap?

Surely it’s not that much of a problem driving a manual!?
I drive hundreds of miles every day in a vehicle with a manual box.
certainly wouldn’t swop for an auto.

I wouldn't do it personally, not only will it cost a lot of money but I think you will also be devaluing the car in doing it.

surely 100 miles must be mainly motorway or at least A road? more of a reason to have a manual if anything?

Manuals must be worth more than autos surely? why not take the oppertunity to get a newer PDK?

I have to ask why would you even contemplate doing that it will be expensive and potential for disaster will be high

Plus who would you sell such a think to??
The residual value will be two 5ths of fk all.

It'll cost way more than £3k to do the job properly, and you'll have devalued the car by more than £3k I reckon.
Nice daydream, but if the incentive is monetary driven you're barking up the wrong tree OP.

^^^This.

Its a mad idea from a cost pov.

Far, far cheaper to change it for something else.

Nuts idea.

Manual Boxster 2.7 is worth more than an automatic. Sell the manual and buy an automatic.

Better still keep the auto it's not a hardship to drive longer distances in.
