Just wondering if anyone else has an issue with a slow turnover when starting? Car in question is a gen1 997 carrera. If its laid up for a few weeks at a time when it does its first turnover is a slow to say the battery is flat but it slowly speeds up and fires. Its sometimes been slow to start but wondering how it can loose its charge so quickly?

Battery was replaced 18months ago by porsche as its still on opc warranty, but i'm reading up a bit and sounds a bit like i'm not the only person with this issue as such, is the general consensus that the genuine battery is a load of crap?

Many thanks

V common. I just bought a conditioner and it hasn't been a problem since, even after 4 weeks of no driving.

Not necessarily. My 997 is on its original battery, going through its 6th winter. Always been on a CTEK when stood for more than a day or two.

Good luck to you but I would have to say that it is on borrowed time.

After 'a few weeks' the battery is likely to be going a bit flat, I'd say! If you can, keep a battery conditioner on it. I've done that with our old 986 and now our 997 and no problems.

Maybe so but I can't complain. I will let you know when it fails. wink

That won't work, you'll never get the pieces back together.
Just buy on, plug it into the car, that'll more than likely keep it charged.
Looking into it won't do that.
